paulus 26
hows it daft?lets no split hairs here.the calibre of the weapon in the legislation isnt daft.the thinking was if a nutter goes on a kill crazy rampage in the high street with a shotgun or a.22 someones gonna take him down after his two shots.a machine gun in a high street.mayhem and carnage! so what your saying is a 7.62 semi auto slr would be more dangerous than a bolt action of the same calibre wrong, the assualt rifle was made to lay down a large chunk of lead as fast as possible at the cost of accuaracy infact most assult rifles have 3 modes safe, single shot and semi auto, again a bus would do far more damage in the circumstances your quoting, should we ban busses just encase
paulus 26
Paulista a bus in an essential mode off every day , transport and if that did happen there's not 1 person who would say ban the bus , these Assault Rifles are Designed to Kill 10s off people at a time mate and that should only be happening in War's , as Ive said if they where an every day essential like a knife , vehicle ect I'd agree with them being in society but FORTUNATELY THERE NOT , Question for you mate imagine your neighbour who liked a drink having an array off Assault Rifles in his House would you feel comfortable with that ... Cause I know I wouldn't . Edited to add I spelt Paulus . . , paulista lol sorry . assualt rifles are designed to shoot bullets the same as any other rifle, as for a drunken neighbour, i would hope the licensing department would take care of that. but just because the man might be a raging alchoholic does that automatically make him a potential mass killer

Waving your fists about you just make a fool of yourself........guns tend to kill people. Edited January 8, 2013 by gnasher16
Nik_B 3,791
Someone who Shouts constantly over people erratically doesn't want to face certain Questions andnthis bloke done some shouting , Morgan has a point about having certain guns who In there right mind needs an AK47 or any Assault Rifle to protect themselves . . . I will tell you who a serving Soldier does , to protect yourself a small calibre hand gun would do the damage you'd need to STOP Someone attempting to hurt you surely , Why do they have the High Volocity Rifles . . . BECAUSE THEY CAN , I'm confident if they could have Tanks In there Drives over there THEY WOULD ! Piers Morgan is a bully boy who given half a breath would have used his considerable skills to rip Alex to pieces, and set traps for him to walk in to. The media aren't foolish they have the best of the best to put across their propaganda. The calibre of a fire arm makes no difference to me. If someone is so like minded they can make a bomb out of Ammonia Nitrate and kill scores of people, even with a shotgun or bolt action rifle you could go on a rampage in a school, I mean how many primary school teachers (mostly women) will take on a man with any kind of gun? As far as I can see the police never arrive in time to stop a murder, rape or any other kind of atrocity so people need to have the right to self defence, and that's the argument in the US. Ah well Joe next door has 1 so I'm having 1 just in case !! I just think having certain Weapons not because you need them but because you can doesn't make sense to me , I'm not Sayin your wrong its your opinion and I respect that it just differs a bit from mine ! lanesra 4,007
People who are known to the police for heavy drinking are refused fire arms certificates though Nik you know what I'm getting at usin the example off drink , a person doesn't have to be a heavy drinker to lose there head in drink. . . I've seen the most placid people do stupid things they wouldn't normally do in drink/drugs . . And heaven forbid if they had a gun at there disposal !
WILF 50,197
One interesting "factoid" that Morgan mentioned was that there were 11000 gun related murders in the US which I don't happen to think is a lot in a country of 300,000,000 people where guns are freely available
graham4877 1,181
why is it the gun's fault..?? what about mental heath...it has more to do with it.. and the media..top yourself as a loner that nobody new or go out with a bang
Nik_B 3,791
Yep but in many ways it would be better off banning drink than guns. I saw your original post and I would be worried if my neighbour who was a p**shead had any kind of gun, in fact if they were that bad I's be worried even if they didn't have any guns. I think we've got a pretty good system over here, there's always the occasional one that falls through the cracks but I'm not sure any more legislation will help. The next thing that will get banned will be the .22 semi and the FAC semi auto shotgun with up to an 8 round magazine as soon as the anti gun newspapers find out they are still actually perfectly legal. Nik_B 3,791
There's only 4 times the murder rate in the US which is interesting. Yet 1000 times the number of firearms. Most other violent crime is much lower in the US. I felt much safer in Houston that here in Stockport.
