Paid 935
Yep, seen that once or twice. Never seen the northern lights though, hope to one day. Theres a lot of light pollution around me, but when further afield, its amazing the amount of stars you can see. One of the starriest nights ive seen was in dorset with tourchy and bigdaz
nothernlite 18,138
have you ever been lamping on a frosty night when a meteor shower happens? It's happened to me twice, makes you feel small. First time I nearly shat a brick lol. Same with the northern lights, marvelous sight. THANKS Edited December 11, 2012 by nothernlite

One of the starriest nights ive seen was in dorset with tourchy and bigdaz Same here with the light pollution. I live in a rural part of West Wales but we have two big oil refineries each about 5 miles down the road and the light they throw up into the sky is unreal.. Darkest sky I seen was when me and the wife were driving home from Ilfracoombe at night along the edge of Exmoor. I got out the car for a piss about half way across and had never seen anything like it..
baw 4,360
When you get a clear night in an unspoilt part of the country, the amount of stars is breathtaking. Best I've seen was around aviemore, makes you feel very small. I used to love watching the satellites whiz zing over wondering if they were spying lol.
Born Hunter 17,843
jupiter is easy to spot.brightest star in the sky.no doubt malt or born will be along to say thats not entirely correct! lol I thought Venus was the brightest! Neither of them are very bright stars! It depends on the night as to what is the brightest object in the sky. The moon is obviously the brightest non man made object most nights, followed by Venus but she hides away most of the time only really visable dawn and dusk time I believe? Most nights if you look up Jupiter is the brightest object you can see and if you look through your average telescope/binos you should be able to see four of it's larger moons which is pretty cool! I used to be clued up on all this stuff as a kid. I just struggle to find the time now unfortunately!
