Sirius 1,391
Had a walkout last night for a shineThe wind was really blowing up high on the high ground, but the rabbits were not hanging around but we manged 10, it was hard work even the hillside were holding water. Its as if the water table cant absorb any more and the water just sits on top of the land. We moved to another farm on lower ground, and after wading to the fields through the 2ft mud , we hit semi dry land but the wind dropped. The rabbits were easier here and sitting tight and we had another 6 from one field. Had a few out the squat and a few out of hedge bottoms. My dog took two through sheep fencing,, where the dog had the wire between his mouth and the rabbit on the otherside of the fence, he needed a hand with those one... Never had that before and he had two in a row All in all a good old walkout and workout for the dogs Took and age to get mine cleaned up when I got home.Good HuntingSirius Edited November 5, 2013 by Sirius 7 Quote Link to post

chartpolski 28,908
It may be that the ground was so frozen, as it was here, then when the topsoil thaws, it can't drain away 'cause the sub-soil is still frozen ? We have a slush on top, but still patches of ice; and it's supposed to freeze again after the wekend ! Cheers Quote Link to post

paulus 26
was out last night and it was bad waddling across flooded fields for a couple of hours is not fun. if you fell in any of the ditches theres a good chance of drowning and the mud sucks the wellies straight off your feet every other step.
