I've been doing it almost constantly for over 6 years now and I've always enjoyed the travelling and drinking etc but now I've got a little (10 week old) girl its getting harder. i just end up sitting in my hotel room drinking, not a healthy way to live. anyone else worked away from home after having a little one? how did you make it easier? i know it'll never be easy... But then i realised all other lads (older than me) were on their 2nd 3rd marriages kids they never saw etc etc. Miss the nights out in different cities, but thats all. Skypes another way also but not sure how this is set up. At the end of the day dont beat yourself up about it remember your doing this to provide for your family in the 1st place, just make sure the time you do spend with them is the best time ever ATB Quote Link to post Share on other sites

GaZMaN888 68 Posted November 14, 2012 Author Report Share Posted November 14, 2012 yeah its normally 12 hours on site and skype is great but it just makes me miss them more haha.the Mrs thinks im elusive when im away but its just that if i speak to her all the time i miss home more if that makes sense. i just try to think of it as earning money for our move to somerset. BUT I bought some fishing gear and kept it in the office....used to go carp fishing to keep me out of the boozer....enjoyed it too.......bad if you have nippers tho, especially wee ones, you miss too much. Dumpling 23 Posted November 15, 2012 Report Share Posted November 15, 2012 I worked away for 12yrs and a day and a half off on wk/ends and a long wk end off every 6 weeks like the other post said the money was great but no life, I think if i stayed with my last employer me and petal would have finished and i would have drunk myself to the grave.
