That cost me one of my best terriers, a mistake il never ever make again, complacency is sometimes a fatal thing!! 1 Quote Link to post

mushroom 13,649
Once came home to carnage in the house. 2 male dogs a terrier (pattxrussell) and a bitsa mongrel lol They had lived, slept, eaten and hunted together for 7 years both lived in the house all their lives so space wasn't the issue neither was food or toys as nothing like that was left about ever. It's not good coming home at lunch to find both dogs in pieces, blood splattered on a 10ft high ceiling and all over the walls then to get a huge vet bill for rebuilding the fuuckers. Same two dogs 2 years later with no arguments inbetween beside the odd grumble decided to kick off royaly in the back of the car the reason... bloody thunder and both these dogs were trained to the shotgun, again another huge vet bill. After this they were no longer "best mates" and barely tolerated each other even to the point of ignoring each other on walks etc. Moral of the story you don't know until it happens and anything can trigger it. Millet 4,497
I have seen a fatality and some bad injuries through dog's fighting that where 100% safe with each other..and my vet bill's will go into the thousand's through pushing my luck over the year's..these day's i can't deal with the hassle and at any given time when i am not about all my dog's are kept seperatly... Come on it's not hard to figure out 2 dog's alone together are a ticking time bomb...you may go through life without a incident but when it does happen the shit will hit the fan..in your pocket aswell as your dog's future working day's.. They has been some good advice given in this thread.. ..so newbie's and not so new newbies take heed because it will hit you in the pocket and heart if you really care about your dog's..kennel or keep separate when un supervised is the way forward..and that is from experience.. 1 Quote Link to post

weasle 1,119
I have little doubt that some of the things that were described on this thread would be horrific to come home to,and can see why they decided never to chance it again. But it still makes me un- comfortable to think that people are saying that if you keep more than one dog together one is going to kill another. The fact is you can and people do all over the world.Bad things happen in life we've all had dogs killed or badly injured out hunting but you don't stop. We've all gone down pub and ended up in a fight,do you stop going out?Next time you see 5 horses in a field think what happens if one kicks another in the leg why arnt they separate. Shit happens. Why wouldn't a dog and bitch fight?Dont really buy that. And if your dogs fight alot and its not the breeding its your kennel management.
