poacher3161 1,766
Christened is just something you'r parents do. It's really an empty gesture.i know lots of people who insist in getting thier kids christened, and up until then never set foot in a church, or since the christening, they also lead life's which lets say isn't strictly by Christian values lol. No I wasn't christened lol Christenings are just another exscuse for a piss up or they can determine wether your kid can go to the better catholic schools in the erea i live in as its the only reason two of my grandkids are getting christend next month. scothunter 12,609
Exactly how can a baby or young kid getting christened understand its meaning.its the parents who insist " my kid needs christened" like it's bloody life depended on it. Oh and like I said, the ones I know who insist on it, are no more Christians than fly in the air lol load of nonsense and thank f**k my parents weren't the type to railroad there kids into it. You can choose up be christened as an adult if that's the path they wZnt to choose, Edited September 22, 2012 by scothunter
Tam O'Void 297
Most Traditions have groundings on Sound Practice, over time theOriginal meanings are either Lost or altered to suit the "Times" .. Like the " Big Gypsy Wedding " communions ....when once it was a " Right of Passage" for youngsters into their community,Basic white shirt Red sash boys and ,White dress for girls a day o be Proud..for some it still is ..,but for others a day to show how Crass we have become ...at my newphews' .I witnessed Football Tops how far has the Religion strayed when that is classed as Faith Scot ...You proudly take in your stride..members calliing you a PROD ! Orange b***d etc.. YOU from what i can gleam from here .ARE neither ...Not a member of an Orange Order ,Royal.Purple or Black for that matter ..Protestant .....you neither believe in a Creator or Worship one..your religion is one of National Socialism.which was Influenced ,Greatly by the Occult and other Doctrines ,Thule for one ...so the next time a member refers to you as the said above ....Just tell them to hang on a minute !!! an put them Right ...Hey ! I'm A NAZI for f***sake ..... The Folk that Knock a GOD and Religion are as Religous, themselves..If it DON'T EXIST why bother Then ?

Very astute of you to decide what I am or I'm not. My religion is national socialisim? Really! Again with the assumptions, I follow no god, I belong to no organisations any more regardless of what they were or we're not.

The Seeker 3,048
This is what I really don't understand a Christening can not be confused for anything other than a religious ceromany. At least with a wedding you can have a civil ceremony or non religious wedding even but you CAN'T have a non religious christening. Sorry but to say you don't believe in god and to get your kids christend is a total contradiction.
