That's the second scary reaction to a horsefly bite i've seen in the last few days. i'm going to give them more respect from now on.

that used to happen to me all the time, started taking vitamin supplement havent had one in two years! something to do with b vitamins apparently, and i eat alot more garlic in the summer now aswell

 

worst i ever had was when i had one on the calf of each leg, both became infected (red, swollen and hot) didnt bother with it until the redness started tracking up the veins in my calf! straight to the doctor for some anti-biotics the midges dont even seem to bother me now either, neither does she

First time I've ever had a reaction to one was just last week. Got bit and had a lump for about a week, just noticed it's pretty much buggered off. Not as big as the one in the photo though. At least they're slow and easy to kill.

Take brewers yeast tablets, full of vitamin B. Or marmite sarnies. keep the horseflies at bay, but won't stop you falling out of trees!

I get bit daily by horseflies and mosquitoes but its only now and again that one goes wrong. It's mad when you've got a bite on one side of your arm swollen like mad but the itch is on the other side?
