10 years from now??????

Recommended Posts

there was a point when I was bang into my shotty then it all went tits up in one year. I lost two lots of good qualty land to different shooting syndicates who not only stopped my shooting, both the hawking and fishing on one estate went tits up too....

Don't get me wrong its their call what they do when they lease a shoot, even the farmer seemed powerless to change anything probably due to the contract and money for the lease. remember bumping into the new keeper on there when I first took my hawk on there at the beggining of the season, he screamed up in his landy with the first words "what the f**k are you doing on here" obviously it kicked off a bit until he radio'd through to the farmer who asked for me to pop in and see him, it was then I was told basically not to come on anymore.

still pretty disapointed about this one as I walked this land for a good 20 years and had it all took away from me, in a way I also feel a bit disapointed the farmer couldn't do more but then I suspect the money he was offered did the talking.

I have a few bit I still shoot on and enjoy getting out now and again but its nothing like the places I lost :cray:......

as thing stand at the minute im pretty well set up here but as you say money talks so who knows what the future holds,

If we are talking about how the public percieves hunting in general and with dogs in paticular then I am afraid you are way off the mark matey, money does indeed talk and bullshit walks as we have found out to our cost!!

The anti brigade have mouted very high profile media campaigns which cost a lot of money but have indeed had the desired effect while the pro-hunting lobby has just talked bullshit and hot air!!

The CA have done precisely ziltch!! Keep rattling on about "Mounted Packs".......news flash, no one in the country gives a flying f**k about mounted packs!!........tell folk how it impacts on the small man, the grooms, the farrier, the little bloke enjoying a day out with his dog, the pest control element for farmers, the damage done to sheep flocks.....that is something your everyday person can relate too..........

The BASC has adopted that well known catch phrase from the bank that liked to say "Yes!!"

Any new legislation the BASC just says "Yes" but will will write down some rules then pretend to our members we are winning!!

Total f*****g buffoons the lot of them!

And at the end of the day, us dog folk are f****d, as it's seen as 'so much less cruel' just to shoot everything. We will end up like some european countries, where all dog work is banned pretty much but shooting is very popular!

Maybe im just kidding myself i dont know.....but i tend to have faith in my fellow man and believe that sooner or later this country will eventually become " normal " again.....and the national traditions of hunting and the like will be put back into the hands of the everyday man to get on with.......things always get worse before they get better and theres usually a point where it cant get any worse......for fieldsports that has to be about now,so i have the belief and faith that its onwards and upwards...........how long it takes to get there is anyones guess 10 years 20 who knows....but i do think normality will reach us again one day.

Unfortunatly the average man in the street only sees the idiots, as the rest of us go unnoticed, and based upon that, i don't blame them for thinking we are all scum.

unfortunaltly this is the case mate. bad press and media coverage has a big say in our sports...

I thought this country had a overwelming Hunting community? many years ago I think this was the case but these days our freedom of speech and freedom to do the sports practiced for centuries have all but been taken away from us.

think alot also starts in school these days too, my lad and daughter don't know anyone else who hunts in their school :icon_eek: . when I was a lad I'm sure it was the same with you nearly all the lads I knew had a catapult or air rifle of some sort, many other lads also would go out with the dogs and their fathers, I never owned a Lurcher of any sort but loved to get out for a invite.

sadly generations these days are missing out on the chance to hunt and will never be introduced to these sports unless they come from a Hunting back ground ....

I agree working dogs have always been around but their wernt confiscation orders on them just for chaseing a few hares years ago like their is today makeing it harder and harder as the years go on part of me hopes it can go full circle and return to how it was as i would like nothing more than my grandkids and great grandkids in the future if their intrested to watch one of the fineist sights a person can witness seeing a good dog behind an hare.

I'm only young I love hunting and want to do it till the day I die because I enjoy it , and find that without my dogs to take out I'd just sit around doing feck all, even if the law changes I won't change I'll keep hunting and find ways to do so , that's just the way I am plain and simple.

If the hunting game is f*cked in ten years that won't stop folk from doing it , if anything it will make them do it more because if people want to hunt they will hunt simple.

I know when I'm out walking the dogs I get the look from people you know the look the look of disgust , I've had several people stop their cars and start spouting on about how it's cruel, illegal, wrong to hunt but I just smile and say I do what I want to do as do you so go f*ck

yourself, I can't stand these people they judge things without understanding them
