GrCh 856
Take mine now and again but have to ring the land-lady to make sure she puts her whippet away. Edited December 13, 2011 by GrCh
Moll. 1,793
How many lads take a working dog to the pub. . And lasses Occasionally go to my local for pub grub. My landlady even supplies a dish, so the dog can have any left overs
paulus 26
the village local is still the focal point here, always a terrier/spaniel/lab/lurcher lying on the old quarry tiles infront of the log fire. years ago there was always a pig/fox in the doorway on a sunday lunchtime just to show the local farmers the lads were out and about still, how times change yet everything stays the same
The Duncan 802
Sounds like there's still a few 'proper' ok country pubs about then, tragically they seem to be a rarity these days. I remember once searching for a pub to play pool in, gave up after 6th attempt, didn't have a dog with me at the time either.
the_stig 6,614
i`ve lived on the edge of the village for 30 yr or more the 3 village pubs all used to be full of charectors -- keepers and poachers the old boys off the allotments -- the football and cricket teams .. darts dom teams the pigeon club -- big roaring fires the places whr you knew everyone whr you got your news the old boys off the allotment used to sell a bit of veg you could sell the odd rabbit and pheasant and freshly picked mushrooms --- i used to make pin money on bags of sticks and logs then over the years the farm i used to have permission sold out 1,500 new houses and a co op superstore , a few years later 400 new houses this year another 250 and by 2016 whr having another 1,500 - its no longer the village we loved the village wr the mrs as lived all her life .the small shops have all gone replaced by indians pizza and chinese takeaways and mini roundabouts ... its lost it soul and charector .. you go in the pubs now the roaring fire have been replaced with giant flat screens the furnitures fresh out of ikea . the pool darts and dom nights replaced by quiz and ladies fashion shows .. the football team replaced by sunday diners ... dogs under tables replaced by designer handbags .... oakey 57
My local is overrun with dogs most times you go in . Me and a mate used to beat on a shoot in Wales every other weekend the locals didnt ever want any pheasants so we were told to help yourself to birds take as many as you want so we used to hang them outside the pub back home we would always get people coming in "whos are all them pheasants outside" ? "yours for a pint " was the reply came out of there in some rare states . Has anyone ever seen a ferret put down the pool table ? The only thing i think the landlord would draw the line at is the local hunt going in the pub .
