mackel 31
what makes people think that this fault cant be ironed out the fact that the dog is carrying the fox there is a good chance you could get him to bring him back mack Quote Link to post

fat man 4,741
If your running the dog doubled up it could be a case of jealousy towards the other dog.Seen it with a dog i had years back,he would not retrieve if another dog was about but on his own he was grand. Quote Link to post

fatboybullx 4
Yeah lads this was a pre ban problem ofcourse, the dog is long dead with all the foxes he also caught and ran away with. Quote Link to post
pattstaff 157
I know a boy that has a dog that will catch a fox then try and hump it,while its still alive Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
Its probably prey envy a lot of young dogs will do this. Pre ban you would have taken him out on his own for awhile till he grew out of it Edited August 23, 2011 by undisputed 1 Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
I've known dogs which retrieved everything, and I mean everything which was small enough to carry or drag to their owner, perfectly until they were run with another dog present, and I don't mean doubled up. Just the presence of another dog on the field, even on a slip, stopped dogs retrieving, and it doesn't matter what breeds they were. A lot of high drive dogs are very possessive and need to be completely alone in their work, barring the owner of course. Quote Link to post
