CarraghsGem 92
as above, you can use white gloss but radiator paint makes a better job of it (carraghsgems hubby)
WILF 50,839
Does normal white gloss not start to "yellow" a bit on rads?

lapin2008 1,587
Does normal white gloss not start to "yellow" a bit on rads? Most paint Alkyd based now so doesn't yellow,Put a spot of Black gloss in makes it whiter.put a spot of marine varnish in for a high gloss that doesn't yellow that sounds like good advice mate will give that a shot, thanks

Malt 379
Preparation is key to getting a finish that will last. Make sure the surface is keyed well before applying any fresh paint. A good coat of a decent undercoat will make a big difference too. Quality of the paint counts too. Some paint is more expensive for a reason.
jigsaw 11,902
Use satinwood finish, then you wont have a problem with the gloss going off.Im a painter for 32 years. You can use the same colour as the emulsion on the walls in satinwood,Makes the rads blend in with the walls as their ugly feckin things anyway
SEAN3513 7
using ordinary gloss paint reduces the output of the radiator........so if its struggling to heat the room use radiator enamel paint............if it warms the room comfortably.........use gloss
masmiffy 82
Hve done rads with a good undercoat or two then finished with emulsion to blend em into the walls. Never had a problem doing it and like i said it 'hides' the rads Edited June 1, 2011 by masmiffy
just jack 998
i'd just buy a new rad
