cocker 2,655
Go out of your way to befriend the other neighbours. You usually find c**ts like the one on your case with the shit arsed westies have usually made life difficult for other neighbours. Good to have some back up if things turn ugly. mate, i have kept dogs a long time and had a lot of different neighbors, and had exactly the same trouble as you are having now, eg the odd neibour getting mouthy, resulting in calls from the police, calls from the rspca, due to the neibour trying there best to get me into bother, these type of people are everywhere, they have nothing better to do, i am a bit older and wiser now, so instead of punching him all over the street and getting charged with affray, i find it is best to quietly tell him to f**k off, and never ever look at you or speak to you again or he will suffer, (make sure noone hears you or see,s you ) try your best to be genuinley courteous and helpfull to all of your other neibours, take the time to stop and talk to them, (never ever ever mention the other bloke or slag him off) tell your neigbours if ever they need a little bit of help with anything just to ask you, and get them all to like you and your family, i bet they all already know, that the other bloke is probably a shit stirring trouble maker, that he is, its like reverse psychology, he tries to make your neibours dislike you, but they cant see any reason to, so they then dislike him, it takes time to build up friendships with neibours, but doing it the way i said worked for me with a particularly difficult one who was an ex copper and a magistrate, he went round my village with a petion about me keeping dogs that he considered a nuisance, not one person would sign it, simply because i get on with them all, and they know if they need anything or any help, i will offer, the ex copper magistrate is still my nearest neibour but he is quiet now, and has been for years, cocker
Moll. 1,793
I think you were spot on, did your best to diffuse the situation, acted like a responsible neighbour...something we all wish more people were like. Unfortunately they are not nice people, if i were you i would stop giving them the time of day now, no threats, no acting ignorant, just plain and simply ignore them. Familiarity breeds contempt

lurchergrrl 1,441
People these days who like to keep themselves to themselves are usually viewed by many with contempt and suspicion. You can't just go about your business any more. I'd be friendly with the friendly folks and completely ignore the knob jockeys. Then you'll have allies in the nice folks at least. I don't have an ounce of bother with my neighbours regarding my dogs - they're quiet, I clean up after them, and I don't let them off lead around here because of all the cats. I'm a dead friendly person so I talk to just about all my neighbours except the ones I suspect would give me bother, which I avoid. That way nobody can wind me up and the good folks don't have to be exposed to my, erm, how shall we say .... hard ass, mouthy alter ego The nice folks know I'm nice and the jerks know nothing about me

JoeD 24
Why don't you ask the bloke if he will go down the pub or something with you and just talk it out and get everything straight, obvioulsy if he doesn't want to you can't do anything about that, but you could always write him a note if he doesn't want to speak to you in person, just a friendly note to say your part and hopefully set it straight. Fair play to you for being civil so far.
JPTfellterrier 65
the best advice i can give you and what i would do in this situation is to say "come back to me when you have some evidence" and walk away/shut your door People like this just want a reaction
