  1. 1. Do you actually work your dogs?

    • Yes regularly throughout the season
    • Once or twice during the season
    • I just like theorising on the internet
    • I am a showpony but like to pretend
    • I am an honest showpony

most sit at home and watch other guys dogs run or work on dvd and become experts then spend there days replying spew to threads that they've watched or heard from a second source.

best advise to newbies is believe with your eyes and not your ears....

now off to beach to clean dogs feet, enjoy your day

The question of weather folks actually work their dogs or not seems to be asked in a derogatory sense here. That somehow, those of us who don't 'work' their dogs are less than desirable and shouldn't

I would like to work my dog as I think she'd be great at it! I've had a few game keepers say she's be good. It's just having the opportunity to do some. She's a JRT X Parsons so is all leg and very fast (kept up with a deer once for a good few seconds) but also small enough to go to ground. I would put a pic of her up but they are all too big! So currently her hunting is kept to the spiders and flies in the house and playing with the dead rabbits she finds in the fields. She did catch a duck once but made her let it go as tbh I wouldn't have known what to do with it in terms of cooking it!

I keep two dogs. I keep them fit, I exercise them, I socialise them. I love the countryside, and I respect it. I have a great interest in getting out with my dogs and my family with the odd hope of maybe catching something. I do my best to give the dogs opportunities to do that and I'm proper keen to learn about making that possible. My dogs have a good, permanent home with me. I learn as much as I can when and where I can - either first hand on my own, or from others who know miles more than I ever will.

I don't drive over farm fields, cut fences, throw trash and rubbish about. I don't treat my dogs like shit. I don't kill things just for funsies, or revel in their suffering. I know dozens of people who 'work' their dogs but shouldn't be allowed to keep a goldfish. People who have NO respect for the countryside, for their animals or quarry,or for other people in general.

Maybe I don't actually work my dogs, but I have just as much, if not more of a right to talk about my experiences than half the hoohahs on here who can't even tie their own shoes.
