  1. The Beardie cross is not a dog for the modern lurcher man. They are not a point and shoot dog by any stretch. They won't blindly smash 10 out of 10 foxes from the back seat of a 4x4 or run like a Beagle on speed across the fenns. If you fancy an old style traditional hunting pot filling lurcher that does what a lurcher was intended to do then they are hard to beat. They are as tough as old boots and a have boundless stamina. Apart from one slight indiscretion with a buck Munty I haven't had need of a vet for over 15 years. The Beardies shape lends it's self well to the Greyhound so you
  2. We have a few differing of oppinions from time to time, but on the whole it's a great forum with genuine lads who have a real passion for the dogs they keep. A must for the true Collie lurcher enthusiast.
  3. Colliecurs is not a difficult forum to join at all. As long as you have a genuine passion for Collie based lurchers and you're not an idiot you'll get on fine. The Masons...LOL!
  4. Hi mate, also tried to PM you. If you still have this dog please contact me asap either on here or on the Colliecurs forum. I may be able to help. Thanks. Magpie.
  5. Popped down to see the pups from this litter on Sunday and took a few pics while I was there. Ciaran has done a fantastic job with this the litter. They all seemed very happy and well developed. I took a bit of a shine to the blue brindle pup. Had I not got a pup on the way from a different source myself I would have pulled Ciarans arm off for him. There are still one or two pups left in the litter so get on the blower to Ciaran and book your pup now! These pups will in the right hands make great all round freezer fillers. They will be tough, robust with plenty of pace and stamina
  6. LOL mine got less white mate but he a cacker Alright fellas. Nice dogs. So how did the Beardie find it's way into the mix?
  7. If anyone is interested. I have a regular supply of chicken carcass and lamb trim. Far more than my friends and I will ever need. I pick up every Tuesday and can deliver if necessary within the Huntingdon/Cambridge area for the cost of my diesel. If anyone is interested please drop me a PM. Atb. Magpie.
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong , but didn't Mr Tredwell start his line with a Remus half cross? (Muirhead bred Beardie owned by the Hancocks). He states that the Picardy or Berger de picardie was the ancestor for the modern working Beardie. Personally I'd like to know what information he has to base that opinion on. I have nothing against either the man, who I do not know personally, or his Picardys. I just find the idea of the picardy having anything to do with the Bearded Collie a little absurd. I have never found any info that corroborates his claim. I am as ever open to correction if
  9. He's a nice looking dog fella. Who bred him and hows he bred?
  10. beardie greyhound and deerhound blood seems to click well together There is a tale that Deerhound blood went into the Beardie to add height in order for them to work rocky mountain terrain easier. I believe that theres more than a grain of truth to that tale. This may also go some way to explaining why the two blend so well together.
  11. Aura was bred by David and Sally Hancock. She's the second half cross I've had from them. Galan was a home reared pup. His granddam was out of the Hancocks kennels and was sister to my original half cross bitch. Galan is the result of mating a pure Beardie (Drew pringle bred) to a 3/4 Grey 1/4 Beardie (Tom Muirhead lines). Sister to Keeps's dog Indie incidentally. Delta I bred myself. I had Aura mated to Keeps's superb 3/4 bred Indie earlier in the year and she was the only bitch in a litter of eight pups. Nose is a quality I rated very highly in my lurchers. Aura and Galan possess
  12. Alright Stabs. Our dogs are related fella.
  13. Hi folks, I'm interested to see how many people on this forum run genuine Bearded Collie bred lurchers. By that I mean only Bearded Collie and Greyhound blood pure and simple. I know there ain't to many of us around so it would be good to make contact with any other like mined souls. Here's a few pics of my Beardie blooded lurchers. Galan. 2 year 5/8 Beardie 3/8 Greyhound. Aura. 4 year old Half cross. Delta. 4.5 month old 3/8 Beardie 5/8 Greyhound. I look forward to having the craic. atb. Magpie.
  14. The pup has now been sold. Apologies to everyone else who enquired.
  15. They are all very bright responsive puppies that are eager to please. It's a rare opportunity to own a genuine working strain Bearded Collie bred lurcher. How often do you see a litter of Beardie bred pups out of two properly proven working parents? The last litter that I know of was two years ago. I had one from that litter and have been rewarded for my decision time and time again by that dog.
  16. No guessing which pup I'd be going for. Having owned both bedlington and Beardie bred stuff I feel qualified to offer my opinion. Bedlington cross lurchers can be fantastic little dog. Plenty of drive and determination combined with a great nose and often a robust frame. If you can harness that nose and control the drive you will have yourself a fair dog. If on the other hand you find the mix of Terrier and Sighthound short of brain with no sense of self preservation as I have you will have a bundle of trouble on your hands. One bitch I had only ran three times in one season due to re

  18. Due to an inevitable time waster I still have one dog pup left. If anyone is interested please drop me a PM and I'll give you my number for you to ring. Pups are three weeks old now and coming on strong. I'll will post an updated as soon as time will allow. Thanks. Magpie.
  19. They'll all be rough coated fella. Their coats are beginning to break now.
  20. I know this smelly ol' farmer boy up the road from me he has a couple of dogs from this line. Absolutely F***ING USELESS! You'd be better off with a mongrel bred lurcher fella. One that's been bred in the shed and fed on shit. There's plenty about.
  21. You never get the right pup on your door step mate! that means you'll settle for second best... Get the train, plane, even thumb it. I'd travel the length of the country for the right pup! After all, its gona be with you for a long time....!! Let me tell the folk who are considering this kind of pup. I to work a beardie x, and they arent just rabbiting dogs. They are very game, if brought on right, and will handle most situations... I have to second that last statement. Although these dogs have been bred with all round rabbit work in mind they will turn their hand to most tas
  22. She is. The dam to the sire is also Hancock bred.
