Could I please ask a mod to sort this out for me please. I can't see why it's duplicated itself. It was a simple cut and paste operation. Thank you.

I've been asked provide a little background on the pups that I have avdertised, so here go’s. This particular line of Beardie lurchers started with a half crosses Bitch that came from the Hancock’s yard. She was a neat 23’ black rough coated dog that was sired by their Muirhead line Beardie stud ‘Findley’. Findley being the son of the Hancock’s other Beardie stud ‘Remus’. In my humble opinion these older Beardie studs that they once had were by far and away better than their current stock. I’m sure some would argue otherwise but having owned bitches from both I know which I prefer. Not to tak

Looks a nice shapely pup SHH. What's it's nose like?

Aye I read the deleted post lol, I would suggest the real nervy types should be steared clear of when producing lurchers, there is still some rock steady collies out there, beardie and border and I would also suggest its the man behind the dog as well, his/her demeanor and how well he/ she can gel with collie types Spot on KR.

Thought I'd better get that one in before some else did. Hahaha!

No arguments fellas just the very occasional differing of opinion. Mostly folk can see outside of their own kennel block even if it isn't for them.

Thanks Stabs mate, I take that as quite a compliment.

I guess it's down to the availability of genuine working Beardie blood. Despite the fact that when you start looking there are quite a few out there folk would rather go for the easier option of using a Border. Beardies are more of a challenge the most Border bred dogs. There are some 'stock dog' type Borders that display very similar temperaments to Beardies, but on the whole they are a harder dog to train and work with. The are very intelligent dogs after all and they know their own mind. If they don't want to do something they won't do it simple as that. I'm bit, no a lot like that myse

Yes and yes. It takes any dog time to truly settle into a traditional lurchers role or any role I guess. You don't see many 3 out of 3 dogs under the age of two do you. People might well have a young dog that picks up long ear well, but one would hope they would allow the dog time to develop both physically and mentally before putting it under that kind of stress. As to whether there is another type that would settle into the traditional role quicker, I can't really answer that. Apart from two lurcher to lurcher crosses I've only kept straight Beardie Greyhound crosses in the last however

That's very interesting Magpie. I have had bull and wheaten blooded dogs in the past alongside a Beardie cross and the latter was the one I had to use my discretion on in terms of holding her back as she wanted to get amongst at a very early age. The bulls and wheaten blooded dogs switched on comparatively later. It's something that the lurcher owner has to be very careful with as if you are used to dealing with strong dog crosses, they tell you when they're ready and when they do, they generally are. With the collie blooded dogs, they can be telling you they're ready but you as the owner sho

Beast... "They are often hyper up to about 18 months, but then a lot of dogs are. they are also a nightmare if you try to keep em kenneled all week aqnd just take em out on a sunday! they really really need to get exercise and stimulation EVERY DAY." Hyper is not a term I would ever level at a Beardie or a Beardie lurcher. Bull in a china shop or full on yes hyper definitely not. It's a case of engaging the biggest brain in dogdum before steaming in. I firmly agree with your second comment however, but this can apply to any intelligent dog not just Beardies.

The Beardie is a very adaptable dog capable of fulfilling a variety of tasks. One of these tasks is to hunt for missing ewes and signal to the shepherd where they are by barking. They also use their voice to encourage stubborn Cattle to move. This is not to be confused with yapping while running. Barking to attract the attention and to encourage beasts to move is completely different from opening up. I would suggest that anyone who has owned a yapping Beardie lurchers has entered the dog to young or unfit. It's the same for any lurcher bred what ever way and especially Collie bred dogs be it B
