  1. If I were you boy I'd listen to what Skycats telling ya'. She has vast experience in treating wounds of all kinds.
  2. Well that's one way to f##k a dog up. What a f##kin' idiot.
  3. Make sure you go somewhere where there's plenty of rabbits so there's lots of action. Kids get board really quickly as you probably well know. As maltenby says, get her involved as much as possible and pray you don't get a lay up or it will be," dad I'm board, dad I'm cold, dad I'm hungry" or "how much longer are we goin' to be" One other Pearl of wisdom where ferretin' with kids is concerned, quit while your ahead. DON'T! be tempted to do "just one more" coz chances are that's where your lay up will be and it will probably start rainin' too. All the best mate, I hope all goes well.
  4. Why oh why are people trying to create a lurcher outside of the usual circle of breeds? There's a very good reason why a vast majority of lurchers/longdogs advatized are Collie, Bedlington, Wheaton ect x Greyhound, whippet, Saluki ect and that's because they're tried and tested. For the life of me I cannot understand why you would want to use Husky in your breeding program. I have first hand experience of a lurcher that had Husky in it's breeding. It was somehow related to the dog mentioned in Badhairdays post and bred by Mr Burrel. This dog was owned by a close friend of mine. Despite h
  5. I did have a look at that but, for some reason my bleedin' laptop won't let me download anything from it.
  6. Evenin' folks. Does anyone know if there is a call on the market that is specifically designed for calling muntjak or, If not specifically designed for Muntys is there a call that does work. Maybe they cannot be called I don't really know. Any advice would be welcome.
  7. Thanks Richy, that's quite a complement. How you getting on with Murphy?
  8. Thanks P , she really does me proud although, she can still frustrate at times. On the subject of sensitivity in Beardies, I think a lot depends on the individual dog. Shannon my old bitch was totally bomb proof no matter what mood I was in or what was going on around her. She was just a happy little dog that was always smiling, literally. A on the other hand is a bit different. Any cross wards between me and her indoors sees her heading for the bedroom. She doesn't like harsh word and definitely doesn't do conflict. She can also be a bit sulky at times so we're well suited. Heart of
  9. She's not just a looker either Chaz, she's a do-er as well. Is she a half cross with Hancocks Hector?? She is yes. Looking forward to those pics HW. Got to agree with SJM that little dogs deffinately got Collie in it. Not only is it a Merle but, it's got a wall eye as well. Best of luck with it Stecra.
  10. Sounds like you had a great time mate. Beats sitting in the pub pissing ya money up the wall don't it! I managed to fill my weekend with a bit of ferreting on Saturday, bushing yesty morning and a quick shine out last night, although I really shouldn't have bothered. It was raining that hard anything with any sense was well below ground. Keep it up and enjoy the rest of the season.
  11. On the fenn morning and evening. Ferreting...... Every angle covered.... With ears like this my dog can hear a gnat fart at a thousand yards! My girls.
  12. She's not just a looker either Chaz, she's a do-er as well.
  13. I quite agree SJM, for the most part anyway. As I said I didn't quite get what the lad was trying to say. If he had said that Beardies can be a little more sensitive than the border, this thick old fenn boy would have understood and agreed hole heartedly. Some times you just have to draw me a diagram .I proffer a sensitive dog to a groveller and that's why I have Beardie crosses. Being a sensitive kind of Pearson myself I find they fit my personality. Although they maybe more sensitive they lack nothing in loyalty or commitment. As for being a sycophant . Some pics from our ferreting trip
  14. I actually visited Hancock and asked him the difference about this question And his answer was absolutley no difference at all but if you stood on Beachy head with a beardie one side and a Border the other and you jumped the Border would jump with you. But both make brilliant dogs, PLEASE PLEASE DONT LET ME START A HANCOCK WAR ON HERE AS EVERYTIME HES MENTIONED OR SOMEONE MENTIONS THE WORD COLLIEXGREYHOUND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Im actually after a Lurcher at the moment in time and ive looked into the Collie x Greyhound type but Im confused weather to go beardie or Border. Im not neccesaryly
  15. Bet you didn't catch that from St ives lagoon!
  16. Sporting bunch aren't they

    ewwww

If you think that's bad I've got something that will beat it. Can I first take this opportunity to say, if you are eating or about to eat you may not wish to read on any further as this story has a rather fowl ending. Right.. For three and a half years I worked as a detention custody officer for one of the most prominent and well known Immigration centres in the south east of England. During my time there I undertook many different roles, from residential block officer to eventually gaining promotion to Interview block supervisor, a job I really enjoyed and still to this day I don't know why
  18. Come on now mate, you know teenagers know it all and can't be told anything. He probably thinks your DISSIN' him because you don't agree with what he's saying and that's WELL BAD'.
  19. Been through a few dogs then have you witton.
  20. Brick and Grip or Rush and Clamp.
  21. Not sure I've read this right, are you saying your thinking of Collie crosses because A, your only interested in Rabbits? Which is fare enough. A good Collie cross will do you proud on the humble bunny and B because they won't have it in them to tackle Deer. I can assure that the do have the necessary minerals to take Deer as I'm sure many on this site will testify. If you don't mind me asking why are you not considering a 1/2 bred? 1/2 breds have plenty of pace to cope with rabbits, have more stamina than 3/4 breds and are generally much tougher physically. i know were you are

  23. A BRIDGE TO FAR. A timeless classic. BLACK HAWK DOWN was very accurately portrayed and THE DOORS.
  24. 6 out of 6 kick ups is nothing to brag about. Feck me, I bet my Beardie x could do that. Anyone who has run true fenland Hares either in Lincolnshire or cambridgeshire in midwinter will know it takes a dog of real class to kill consistently. I'm not talking about kick ups either, real coursing men will always afford the Hare law and only run the fittest and the strongest. Given full sporting law on the fenn, to quote an old friend " there's ares' on that fenn that no dog ud catch". After all said and done the Hare commands the highest sporting respect. To run a hare in any other way is sac
