  1. Sorry I thought he was referring to something I read recently about a guy in police custody in the UK who was beaten and died Not unusual for me to get facts mixed up ... I sometimes can't remember what I had for breakfast
  2. Not to be antagonistic, but if your brother was 'supposedly' beaten in custody and died as a result, what would you do?
  3. Just got this email from my Mum. She said they reckon the mother was hit by a car died in the woods. This little baby (no mother to be found) was first sited out back of one of our sales offices on Monday along with a sibling who unfortunately died before we could rescue them. We had people out looking for them after the first siting but found no sign of them. [My brother G] and I rushed up to the site Tuesday night after I received the call that the baby had been seen again. We found him in the hollow of a tree and we delivered him in to the care of the Toronto Humane Socie
  4. That's really nice. Hope you don't mind if I crosspost it?
  5. Well I had one little cat that was still green, but I found him dead yesterday under a pile of poop And was dead, not just changing colour or moulting or whatever. Still, got three left and they're thriving. Darcy one of them has started to wander today ... remind me 'cause I'm dim He can just go into a little space of his own with some dirt and fushia? How big does container need to be - at the moment the three of them are together in a big plexi container with a lid. The kids each get to hold one every day while I'm cleaning the box out. They LOVE the cats with their big fat bo
  6. Well I dunno ... I mean they're not usually that tough but they can be a bit scary. Out in the dark one night and some young lads were lurking and decided they'd scare the crap out of me - they chucked something off a bridge at me Griff emerged from nowhere, blocked my way so I had to stop moving and let out a most shocking growl followed by some ferocious barking Up till then I'd not thought he had it in him. His young sister has a wicked bark but underneath it she's a big chicken. But I'm convinced Griff would have put himself on the line for me. I like the lemon juice idea, ch

  9. Haven't taken pics of mine for a couple of days but they're HOOOOGE With tiny little heads ... and they just never seem to stop eating and crapping. My fushia is now decimated
  10. Ya I'm ok, but I very nearly wasn't ... Blimey SJ it does sound as though you've put a bit of though into this ... and that you've been watching CSI One of my leads is a Pet Touch lead, bought it at the pound shop, and it's got a big heavy spring on it that's meant to absorb the shock of a dog pulling (ya, ok ). I bought it because it's a nice short lead and that's what I prefer. I reckon if I swung that at someone's head it would do a bit of damage
  11. I used to carry a lock blade knife years ago, as the neigbourhood I grew up in was rife with muggings, gangs, drugs, rapes etc. I never felt comfortable with it because I'd rather someone didn't get close enough for me to stick 'em with it. A couple of years back I did a bit of kick boxing and it gave me loads of confidence, but I still don't think I could use it to properly defend myself. I hadn't really thought much about the need to protect myself when I'm out until recently. I thought to myself the other day ... I wonder if I'm the only one creeping about out here? It was dusk, and ver
  12. WM is that you on the left? You look a bit like Ross from Friends The person I was talking to has pretty good knowledge, but seems to think whippets aren't worth it. I think differently of course, as WM knows Thanks for the comments so far .... anyone else?
  13. Good question SJM ... I usually fool myself into thinking my dogs would protect me, but there's been more than one occasion when I wished for something "just in case".
  14. I was having a conversation with someone last night, saying I would quite like to have a whippet. The fields around me are small and I think a whippet would suit me and fit in well with the other two. He says they get injured easily, knocked up and skin tears etc., have no stamina and are "shivery little things" So I'd just like to hear from those of you who have/have had working whippets, and what the pros and cons are in your opinion
  15. Happy Birthday Millet!
  16. Sorry just have to add my two cents worth ... YOU MUST BE INSANE Or else hard as nails Just the idea of doing that to myself makes me feel faint. No advice tho .... just wish you luck!
  17. Nice pics Mouse Isn't it great, having them out in the fresh air, exploring, running about, learning ... instead of having them sat in all the time? Anybody got anymore kids & dogs pics they want to share?
  18. Get her some protective clothing .... who needs a bushing dog when you've got "Bushing Kid" - the very latest in the superhero fads Mine were very quiet this time around, but I think it was the novelty of it all. I don't hold out much hope that they'll be so quiet once they get used to things
  19. Cheers again all .... Gaz the kids love going out because we usually include some kind of game, like finding ducks or tadpoles or whatever. Chocolate or lollies in your pockets helps encourage them along too I can't stand being stuck in all day - not just because it's not good for the kids, but I feel guilty if the dogs don't get out too. So rain or shine, we're all out more often than not
  20. You're a cruel, cruel man Mike Crackers, the lot of them.
  21. Stop it!!! I am proper keen to have a whippet
  22. Oh dear I shouldn't have looked.
  23. What a beaut! I love merles
