There's an enzyme in raw egg white that's supposed to kill vitamin D in pups, don't really remember the ins and outs now, long time since i read it, i don't feed raw egg to pups or adults after reading that, being honest i wouldn't feed raw eggs anyway, never know what other nasties could be lurking? Don't get me wrong, i'm not paranoid about it, iv'e seen dogs eat some bad shit in my time with no i'll effects, even good effects, like a mate who buried a load of turkey neck's that had gone off, one bitch was a bit low after some serious work, he turned them out into the back fields when he c

Tea plants are very good at absorbing aluminium mate, they leach it out of most tea, strong links to dementia, uncured will probably have a high alli content?

Its easier and neater to build the blocks level and put a bit of fall into the finished concrete floor, if you make the finished floor level high enough you could fit drainage pipes in while back filling, ideal fall is 1" in ten ft of pipe length, make it fall to a central drain from both sides if possible. I'd use 140mm concrete blocks for the sides, and make sure its cured a bit before filling/whacking, worth taking your time and getting it right first time mate.

Not to replace a garage that's already there mate, that shouldn't be a problem, so long as its the same height, height restrictions usually apply. I think you could have problems with a block and beam floor to run a car on though, specially with a storage space underneath, they'll probably want a structural engineer to design it, if they let you do it at all, odds on they'll want a central supporting wall, or walls, in which case its cheaper to go the tin sheet/concrete route, just a thought.
-
You don't need block and beam at all mate, build the foundation up, if its deep use cheap hardcore like crushed brick, then a decent layer of limestone (crush and run) make sure the limestone is compressed properly, and fit a plastic membrane to stop rising damp, if its going to be covered that is, pointless if not, then just concrete it up to finished level, dead easy.

Made myself a flowerpot furnace to cast alli catty frames mainly, easy to do, mines a bit ott really, weighs 2 hundred weight ish, but works well Metal burning bin, big flowerpot with a hole in the base, and just fill the void with a strong grit sand/cement mix. There's a lip round the inside of the flowerpot, about 4" up, so i made a metal plate to fit neat and drilled holes in to let the air come out evenly. I got this airbed pump off a car boot for a fiver, rigged it up with some 20mm copper pipe that fits up through the hole in the flowerpot, give some fair -
I cant argue history, however I would argue that I cant be just as good of a hunter as a man, Also my father had "to make the best of a bad job and teach a daughter" ... my father is an outfitter and has taught me lots about hunting in addition no man in my life treats me any different as a hunter just because I am a women. I work just as hard at it as a male. I am not a feminist (far from it) but I dont believe in stating women "should keep a decent providing man happy", I feel she should keep him happy and be at his side. AND I am actually the one who has put meat on the table for the pas

Women just aren't geared up for hunting...........fact of human evolution.......in primitive groups, women were gatherers, men were hunters, thousands of years of evolution meant men who were better hunters would provide for their families, and so pass their genes on, better hunters would pass better hunting genes on, no doubt about that, but women would never be tested in a hunting arena, it just wouldn't be an issue, and still isn't for for 99.9 % of women, some bloke gets no sons, so has to make the best of a bad job and teach a daughter, then all of a sudden they're better than a man.....

Most nutters that end up serial killers, rapists, sadists, start on animals from a young age, proven fact, 5 or 10 years down the line one of these c**ts could do your daughter, no sympathy for them at all tbh, scum. I remember one of the first lessons a mentor of mine ever told me "if you're going to kill it, kill it, don't torment anything" iv'e always tried my best to honour that 100%, a life is a life, even a f***ing rat.

About 4 years ago me and the eldest lad were walking on the edge of a wood and one of the dogs went for something in some light bramble but stopped before grabbing it, the other dogs piled in, but not one of them would hit it, 3 lurchers, a spaniel, 2 spaniel x's, turned out to be a Woodcock with a wing totally missing, sheared off clean as a whistle, but very much alive, there's some electricity wires running down the edge of the wood, so i'm guessing the Woodcock hit them and took the wing off? But none of the dogs would touch it, didn't want to know, and they're keen feckers on any normal

Brilliant thread Griff, really enjoying it mate, you should have a TV show The old trick with tiles or stone laid on mortar is a light coat of linseed oil, then clean up when the mortars dry/cured with a cloth and a bit of white spirit, works a treat PS, not stone that will absorb the oil, like sandstone, changes the colour/stains if it absorbs. any igneous stuff like pebbles is fine. -
Funny this should come up, had a walk with my youngest lad last sunday, walking down a path the little bitch seemed to get a scent in some bramble, then something exploded out of it, bitch made a half hearted grab at it, and then the lurcher had a go, but let go, feathers all over and it flew into my lads chest, didn't realise what it was until it hit him, but a Woodcock, it still managed to fly off. My dogs seem interested in their scent, but don't really try to grab them, never seen a dog take one tbh?

Anybody Make Yew Tree Bow?
Truther replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
You have to cut Yew right to make a proper bow, heartwood performs well under tension, and green wood works well under compression, so heart wood at the front of the bow, but its an art to do it right. Ash is supposed to be good, same principle i think? Bit of historic trivia for you..............by the end of the 1300's all the mature English Yew was gone, demand for longbows being the reason, so the French sold us their Yew, in 1415 at the battle of Agincourt the British archers would have been using bows made from French Yew, maybe that's why they sold the Argies the exocets -
I watched my Dad work hard all his life, unless he was seriously unable to work, he worked, from 15 to his 65th birthday he grafted, we noticed he was acting a bit strange just before he retired, maybe around 64, we thought it was the thought of retiring that was stressing him out, but it turned out to be dementia, he retired on his 65th birthday, and ended up in a home by 66...........he had a few bob, but wasted his life earning it, and never got to enjoy it, died the day before his 70th birthday. When he died i had my own company, doing pretty well, but the stress was bad, and i didn't
