  1. I don’t know Rez. I think the Texan would sort a few rats out... I mean... you could shoot them from through the bloody walls, but it’d sort em. Shooting ferals with it I’m not to sure about ? but aye that stealth does look like a nice grab and go for round the yard. Not my cup of tea personally but I can see the appeal.
  2. Shot the standard version at my local range. Alright but I found it a bit heavy for my liking and as said, bloody loud. Alright, relatively accurate rifles but I’d still put the money into quality second hand rifle. They are okay but as was said to me by Rabid from the forums ‘if you are interested in following it as a hobby more seriously, you will find yourself wanting for more very quickly!’ He’s right. I’m already looking at picking up a new rifle... if you get the bug it’s surprising how much you find yourself wanting a bit more. A nice hw100 or a second hand r10.
  3. same! I don't have a sense of smell 90% of the time but every now and then I'll get a wiff of something and I have to say, when i've been at Rabids and caught that coal smell on the air, it reminds me of being outdoors as a kid when we used to visit the village my aunty lived in, wandering around the fields and woods near her house and seeing my Nana and Grandad in Yorkshire, the whole village smelled of it.
  4. decock the gun, safety, use a rod to work the pellets free of the breach. Once the first is free from the breach and back into the mag you should be able to remove the mag and then use the rod to unjam the barrel. Put a few individual rounds through the gun and you should be all good. Alternatively if you're not comfortable doing this I'd follow Marks advice and take it to the gunsmith, they will usually have it sorted in no time I have done this a few times with my RWS, it's relatively easy to fix yourself but as said, if it's a brand new gun or you're not confident don't be afrai
  5. Cheers for the advice Nicholas, I won’t lie I’m really not sure what type of steel it is but I know it holds an edge and it’s relatively easy to work with. Thansk for the advice about the finish. I’m working on another knife currently so I will try to employ this method when I finish that one. Thanks smithy
  6. Cracking. Cheers griff. I’ll drop you a pm if I have any questions.
  7. Cheers Griff. I’m looking to try the denim epoxy scales you put in that hammer soon. Absolutely stunned by how good that looked
  8. Honestly. This was maybe 6-8 hours of work spread over 2 days. I am a sucker for ‘man at arms’ on YouTube. The things they create are unreal! The vikings axe they forged recently with the Damascus cutting edge!! Amazing!
  9. The finished product after a shine and an oil.
  10. Once it was beginning to shine nicely and the edge was holding and cutting nicely... I decided it time to move to the handle I had had an old wooden lamp in the shed that was in our living room growing up. Hasn’t worked for years and I thought one day I’d find a use for the wood as it looked nice. Today was the day and it also meant a nice sentimentality to the knife. mince cut down and roughly shaped and the holes drilled I cut three brass pins and pinned and epoxied the lot in place. DONE... no, not really, Jeese even I’m not that bad. Again,
  11. So I decided I wanted to work on a new knife. I’ve done a couple in the past but mostly just been a case of rehandling old blades. This time I wanted to do the lot from scratch. Didn’t really have anything laying about that would be much use for a blade so I went to B&Q and picked up a length of steel. If nothing else it’d be useful for future blanks. I Used a small piece to test how well it held an edge after hardening etc and it held it pretty damn well. So onto the project. I found a blade template I liked he look of and used it to rough out what I wanted onto the steel.
  12. What is it you said about using daystates as cricket bats? I'd still bloody miss a cricket ball . In fairness though, a cracking gun. I think I was doomed to fail from the get go with the guinea-turkey fiasco.
  13. Yeah it's probably for the best my groups aren't shown... they were... Ahem... not fantastic. Genuinely thought I was going to be banned from shooting all together after that show. I of course blame the wind and not my shoddy shooting. All in all though, a CRACKING little gun. Seeing the accuracy of it was more than a little impressive. I definitely didn't get defeated by the magazine either.
  14. Good shooting Archie. Everywhere is either boggy as hell or frozen over at the moment. I was stood still for about 20 minutes when I was out the other day and the water around my boots had started to freeze when I finally moved! Good result though, lovely looking dog too!
  15. Mine are silent when they hit the prey.. apparently so silent the prey don't even notice it... definitely not missing of course
  16. Your best bet is to post in the air rifle section mate. You are in the gamefair meet up section... might be worth giving people a bit of background in regards to your shooting. how long have you been shooting, what have you shot so far, do you have insurance? that sort of thing. Best of luck and welcome to THL
  17. This could be a sign of an allergy to something. My missus' mum got a cockerpoo a year ago and she had a similar problem. The vet put it down to a reaction to the Christmas tree as they had a real one. Has the dog been in contact with anything unusual recently? Plants etc?
  18. I did this for a while. Till the Mrs realised where the spuds were going ?... apparently ‘I’m trying to find a more efficient way to mash them’ wasn’t the correct answer... ?
  19. Hello fella, I'm just down the road in Bedford. More of a PCP man myself but I definitely have appreciation for a good Springer
  20. Apologies gents I missed these comments. I had a play with these at the CLA at hatfield last year and Rabid was kind enough to lend me his last week. I have a set on order just dont tell the Mrs haha
  21. Don't count on me to shoot em for you though... you may have a hell of a wait haha
  22. Wow. That’s an interesting way of thinking about it really! Definitely. As I said to you before it’s fine to shoot targets on an indoor range but there’s no variables really. I need to do some outdoors shooting and get myself sorted.
  23. Evening all. Time for another write up. Got told by Rabid the other day that he is at all out war with the rats after losing a chicken to them. After my failed attempt last Friday I had to try and prove I actually knew what a rat was and that I knew how to shoot him them. I finished work at 6 and then shot home to get changed and grab my kit. I got to the farm about half 6. We sorted the rifles and Rabid kindly leant me his Pulsar NV again. The plan of attack was for me to set up in the barn and try and get some from there and Rabid was to go over to the Pen on the other sid
  24. Well thank bugger I didn’t have cataracts! Good to hear you got it sorted though!
