  1. Unfortunately no. Well, I have a picture of a very chuffed looking Bruno the dog showing off the squirrel he found us, but its a touch blurry to say the least haha. It was however... my first ever squirrel! Which I was chuffed with, really happy with the shot as my freehand shots aren't normally too good. I haven't the slightest clue why the Taxidermist laughed when I asked for a shoulder mount of it? He said something about mounting it on a tea coaster?
  2. Going on a bit of a tangent here, (Bare with me it bares relevance) I shot with Rabid from THL today and got the chance to try some new pellets through my gun. Rabid has a rather extensive collection of different pellets and was kind enough to let me try a few different ones in my rifle so see how I got on. When I tried FAPs I noticed my groupings were all over the shop. I had been shooting with RWS Super domes. Wicked little pellets and I was getting nice groupings, I switched to H&N hollow points which are significantly lighter and my groupings got even better. Rabid suggested I try the
  3. Afternoon All, Today I was lucky enough to spend the day with THL member Rabid. He invited me over to shoot some targets and have a chat. I had a cracking time, we spent some good time on the targets and whilst i shot okay towards the end my form was WAY off to start with, so much so that when Rabid actually looked through some binos at the target he said "Bloody hell..." I don't think he quite knew what he'd got himself into. As I say, I got progressively better towards the end of the day and I put the bad shooting down to the wind and the fact it was my first time shooting somewhere ne
  4. as it goes. Rabid has already talked me through fixing the whole thing haha. The fella doesn't half know his way around a PCP that's for sure. The rifle is an RWS LR-25 in .22. Ended up taking the entire cylinder assembly apart, cleaning the inlet valve and seals and reassembling. I think all the drama was caused by a tiny fleck of brass that had got snagged on the edge of the inlet valve and was stopping it from forming a proper seal. Sent Rabid a text and he helped me sort in no time. So we are back on for tomorrow assuming it isn't too windy! Here's hoping.
  5. Evening THL, I have been up the range today to zero my scope and get my eye in ready for my first outing with Rabid tomorrow. Unfortunately after putting about 200 shots down the range, I tried to charge my gun using a cylinder at the range and heard a leak start in the gun. I stopped filling and checked everything over. As I removed the filling probe my rifle dumped the best part of 100bar through the filling port. I did some fault finding and I found the issue is the inlet valve (A small plastic stopper like piece inside the inlet valve body). Now unfortunately this has complete scuppe
  6. To my knowledge (Which isn't great I'll admit) FEOs are firearms Enquiry Officers who work within the police specifically for firearms licensing. As far as I am aware they are basically just licensing officers. They are the guys and girls that will come out, inspect your safe to ensure it is safely and correctly installed in line with the law. They interview you and are inevitably the ones that make the final say (if I am wrong here, someone please correct me ). It's obviously worth mentioning that the licensing of firearms in Ireland is far stricter than even England to my understanding. It
  7. I'd be on the side of Del and The One for this Patterdale. Call your local FEO, it will come down to a number of deciding factors really, but in the grand scheme of things they are the ones who issue certificates and are usually pretty helpful if you're civil. I second Dels point to join BASC if you haven't already. They have a pretty helpful legal team that you can call at most hours, and they will be able to advise before you contact your FEO/take further action. As Del said, BASC will usually help fight your corner too if you are unfairly refused/revoked. It is worth mentioning
  8. Hello from Bedford, I'm Mark but everyone calls me Smithy. I'm a keen airgunner and angler from Bedford. I've been shooting for coming up 10 years now, mostly target with the occasional pest control thrown in. I've been fishing for 14 years and am a very keen Carp Angler. I'm one of the first people in my family really into the countryside/outdoors having grown up in town, but spent all my spare time fishing and shooting and being generally outdoorsy. I've been a LONG time lurker as you can see by my account creation date, in fact I forgot I even had an account until today! I look f
  9. ah! I'm just on the edge of Bedford myself, good to know there are others about nearby-ish
  10. Hey Rabid, if you don't mind me asking, where are you based in beds? (my neck of the woods you see) cheers btw, welcome to the forum Paul Smithy
