I did not know pits had a noses on them that why I was looking at the ebt I know the boy that marred on of my uncles girls hog hunts with pit but the way he talked they had to be led right up on two the hog I was looking for one that could use his nose mostly when we were set up on a bait or call to let us know when one is coming in

hi everyone I come up on this and thought maybe some of you all could help me I have be readying about English bull terriers thinking they might be the could I am looking for in a game dog the two animals I hunt for are coon and coyote and I am looking for a dog that can put one on the ground so I can get in to make a for sure shot the way we hunt for the coon is to tree them with hounds but sometimes you get one that wants to fright and a big coon can be hard to put on the ground and the coyote are bring in with calls or over bait but some use dogs as decoys to get them in but mostly I need a

thinks you all I have looked around for the books you all told my about but so far no luck I was wanting to ask when you start a pup out do you use sent triles to teach them that the way we would bring up a hound pup and that was all we had when I was younger I know nothing about gundogs and when you run pointers do they go on point like they do on tv thinks
-
I was talking about my rifle because the one I saw of deer be hunted was with a rifle it was my understanding the dog would stay on point until the shot as the hunter moves around to get the shot but if you have had you dog to go after rabbit have you had trouble with them get in the way of the shot because with a shotgun on ground game I was worried about the shot spread
-
What I was mine was to get them pointing on furs for me to take with my rifle I was not talking about killing with the dog just to find them do you get them pointing on fur like you do on birdes
-
My name is Jonathan I am from the U.S and find something on the internet that I had never heard of and that is pointers be hunted on furs the two I have find they are used the most on deer and rabbit over here pointers are seen as bird dogs I was just wondering if anyone has doing this what kind of game beside deer and rabbit have you done deer would be against the law but rabbit fox and coyote would be OK and do they point on game like birds and how would you get them on fur is it like with a hound I was bring up.mostly on hound dogs and know nothing about pointers but like the idea of one
-
Think you all just wondering what kind of pointers have you heard of be used as a stalking dogs
-
Maybe one of you all can answer some questions for a guy that know nothing about gwp I am from the U.S. and always saw them as bird dogs but find on YouTube they been used for deer pointing on deer like birds cause me to find that they have been used for other game deer would be against the laws but I was thinking about rabbit and fox which from what I have read they have been used on and to coyote which we have a big problem with here I know nothing about gun dogs as I grew up with hounds and I was just wounding how you would get a pointer going on game do you bring them along like a hound
-
I just saw something on YouTube were gwp was used to point on deer that got me to looking and finding out at one time they were used for other game then birds I was just wondering if a person was not a bird hunter could could a pointer dog but used to find other game like rabbit the reason I ask is for rabbit it would be possible to have one point on it and take it with my 22 instead of runing them with hounds and having to use a shotgun that mess up the meet
-
I have find something about pointers be used for stalking dogs for deer to let the hunter know when deer are near and to find the deer had been shot bad I was wondering if anyone could give some ideas for making a stalking dog it would be again the law for deer besides boold work but I see some used for game here most rabbit and fox which from what I have been able to find has been game take by stalking dogs and also for coyote just need to know how to go about the training for one and if there are any books for training one think you very much
-
So if I understand the dogs are let to run free and locat the game by smells and follow to the den right
-
I think I have red somewhere they can take a hot trial would you let them with the tracking dogs or let them out when the other dogs dive one out
-
OK that what I was thinking the thing I was try to find out was do you have to find the den then turn the dog losses or do you let the dog out and they find it on there Owen do they go by smell or sight
-
I have never heard of a marking dog if I understood they find deans are they just find rabbit or any game that well den do they follow the animal smell or are they look for the den it self and do you teach them to brack or be quite and set
-
What is a marking dog is it used to mark were game is or the dens and bedding Ares I have never heard of one if it finding dens I would like to know how you would bring one up could come in hande for trapping season
-
What does a draw do does that mine when a animal goeas to ground that the dog. That brings it out if it is that could be good on coon when they go to ground but on the one were people run them on hogs I have never seen on in real life just in pictures they look kind of small and short legs to have any kind of speed but the ones from a working line could be a total different dog I was just wanted to ask any of you All that has run them
-
I know in the southern U.S were I am. From a lot of hog hunter run them as catch dogs but I have been thinking about seeing what there would do as a catch dog for coyote's and coon sometimes when we run coon the tracking dog get one on the ground and it takes a hard dog to deal with a big coon and on the coyotes the tracking dogs just push them until they are running in a big loop and can get ahead of them I could use any input from you all on what you would think I have never hunted hog but from what I Read any dog that can stop a bor hog should be OK for what I am thinking
-
How many do you run or could one do it
-
How would you say they would do in diving fox out for sghit hound
-
Why not a pure beagle do the x have something over them. My dad said that he had a beagle that would run any thing that it came on.
-
Why would you not just go with a pure beagle do the x have any thing over a pure boold
