So theyre eating solids, (appropriate solids) have access to water and are under a lamp or are warm enough and theyre still whining?? Have you taken the bitch away from them completley? I find the only thing that can keep a pups, especialy realy young pups content is their mother, wether they feed from her or not. Shes all theyve known all their life so her recent lack of contact with em will be rather traumatic. What breeding are the pups? ant

What a load of palava over such a petty thing ... the lads using his terrier to catch rabbits on the lamp. Whats the fuss for? There is no written rule book lamping that states lamped quarry MUST be taken with a longdog / sighthound / lurcher. Agreed lurchers are more efficient and are built for running which makes them ideal, but the lads already explained he aint got a vast amount of experience or knowledge when it comes to hunting and lamping, nor did i when i first took an interest in the sport. There arent many people out there who would lamp with a terrier, i wouldnt, but that doesn

Very true. . . Lovley looking dog there bess. I guess its something thats always going to be an issue as long as Joe Bloggs can buy a dog, no questions asked. In Liverpool at the moment the local paper the liverpool Echo is rallying the ' Bite Back' campaign, due to the amount of recent pitbull attacks and children being bitten. I find it sad that this is necessary and that there are so many uneducated kids out there walking round in tracksuits who cannot comprehend the implications of owning such a powerfull breed. I also know a few people who have these dogs and theyre well

I agree, theres a similar thread on the running dog section.

That can be applied to every breed though, and id say 98% of breeders, especialy outside of the working dog world i.e lurchers terriers etc breed for profit. Hell . . . I have i admit it, that doesnt make me a negligent breeder. The pups were cared for and whelped the all same way i whelp my pups. And even the most dedicated ''genuine'' breeders can never be 100% sure to whome they are selling their puppies, or where the dog will end up in the future and in whos hands. Regards Ant

Its a joke .. The media are now scouring for rottweiler related stories, none of which are regarding rover the friendly rottweiler who saves his owner from death etc ... no they have to be child mauled by rampaging rott, and the baby girl that was killed in the pub flat, so, so sad and my heart goes out to the family but it could of been two golden retrievers that killed her. Anydog that isnt socialised and trained and handled by a person with a high enough level of intellect to do so can be a liability, be it pit bull or pomeranian. I was actualy given a young rott a few weeks ago, 11 mo

My folks used to run a big sports and social club, My old man brought a sturdy looking tan and white Parsons Russell X Whippet home from his friends allotment, his mate was going away for the weekend and left the dog with us. The dog was left to rome the allotment to keep rats and cats away from the blokes pigeons and hens. After being with us an hour the dog found his way into the cellar with the barrels and ales etc where kept and nailed to rats. To say i was amazed was an understatement, busy behind the bar my folks took little notice and told me to go play on the football pitches at the b

When it comes to entering a dog, any dog, to game everybody has their own preference. I dont agree with ' if its in them let them do it'. Dogs under 12 months of age may very well be capable of catchin' 'n' dispatchin' but IMO you've got to give em time to grow. In no way am i knocking your dogs achievment mate, beacause that IS good going for an 8 month old pup. I assume it was single handed? Good luck with the dog anyhow. Regards SM Ant

I always have both Jeyes fluid & Trigene in, first came across the stuff when i was working at a boarding kennels where it was on tap, was used everywhere - pens, runs, kennels, corridors, cattery blocks they where very anti parvo. Use ordinary disinfenctant and bleach every other day in my pens, give em a good soak then jetwash. Find the Trigene usefull for swilling pens out that will be holding puppies etc. Can never be to carefull when it comes to cleanliness imo. AnT

Alright folks, Just wondering wether any of you very knowledgable people out there would know where to allocate and maybe put a price to this type of rat trap The lad i do alot of ratting with has got about half a dozen very old ones but is reluctent to lend/sell me one as he considers them to be like rocking horse shit. Was looking at one on eBay but was outbid. Used to have one years back and cud catch in excess of 5 rats a night in it, just the german shepherd we had at the time found the cage full of rats before i did and demolished the cage. Anyother ca

I agree with the above but not having a go mate, alot of people are under the impression once a dog gets his wack they calm down, obviously as already explained mate this aint the case, ive got a jack russell dog who has seen to many a bitch and is still as excitable as ever. However if the dogs from good lines and your intention IS to work the dog to the best of his ability you may find the dog does make the grade and would like to breed from in the future to a bitch of the same high standard to keep the line going. So unless you think it would be much less fuss to get him neutured your leg

Read quite a few interesting threads regarding diet and fitness, obviously excercise is each to their own and we all have our own prefered methods but Lee AKA RainmakerKennels knows alot about diet, nutrition and the BARF diet So id suggest maybe read a couple of his previous posts regarding this matter ( if you havent already) Im sure you can take alot from what he writes the lad is very knowledgable on the subject. Having said that Im yet to convert to a raw meat diet . . . Intend to though. Regards Ant
