If its just the one dog been bouncing round sniffing its possible hes just abit hormonal or she may very well be due in season just not yet, Is there n e chance you could have missed her? some bitches are blaintantly in season, i e dripping blood obvious swelling ''fliratious'' throughout, etc others clean themselves constantly therfore making it hard to detect, and only stand for one day. ive worked in large breeding establishments and know every dogs different, keep a close eye on her especialy when shes around other dogs, they can tell you more than any text book mate. Nightmare keepin em apart lol!!! AnT

Ive always given my bitches lactol when whelping, calcium tablets too . . . Had a few labs in recently, 3 2 year old litter sisters all had very little milk while whelping yet only relativley small litters, pups seemed to thrive though and all 3 bitches maintained top condition right the way through whelping Ant

To be honest i was thinkin along the same lines, is the quarrys vision not impaired by the beam therefore giving your dog the advantage?? Same here, i think most people have their preferences when it comes to lurchers and for whatever reason prefer a certain colour or stamp of dog, but suppose when it comes down to the job in hand colour dont contribute to a decent lurcher. . . Alright boys, comps been fuckd for a while picked it up the other day after gettin repaired. Thanks for the comments boys, shes comin on a treat, had her out the other night just for a mooch, entered a field by a local school when she started pulling [bANNED TEXT] id even turned on the lamp, soon as i turned on the beam i seen one of them long legged rabbits ( dont know wether u'z have them down ur way lol) she was cutting off the circulation to me hand pullin on the slip, so i released one hand and off she went, put in a few rackin turns but couldnt get up to make a strike, the pair of

Cheer boys I intend to work her on bunnies and old charlie boy, think she should excell at most other things too as shes got a crackin prey drive. Picked her up when she was just 7 months, i was lookin through classifieds on here when i spotted a bullgreyound / wheaton ... When i enquired the dog had already gone but Lee (Rainmakerkennels) Told me he may have to give his pup due to circumstances, sure enough he did have to So i snapped his hand off ... great fella .. and he done alot of good solid training with her which i thank him for, As she's turned out a proper little moochin dog J

I agree [bANNED TEXT] there are way too many hobbyist breeders out there and backyard puppy peddlars ... I make me living whelping and delivering other peoples pups, which i suppose just goes to show there are alot of people out there who rush into breeding their bitches cuz the fellar down the road bred his last year and it payed for his holiday etc etc etc ... I breed jack russells myself, have done for years ... Im also looking into Maltipoos, a hypoallergenic breed, Maltese put to a poodle ... Sort of like a handbag dog version of the labradoodle ... another very very succesfull hypoall

Know how ya feel mate Worst feeling in world too ... Me little sisters yorkie bitch followed the Vizsla out into the back garden a few weeks ago, she was a teacup one weighing about 2 1/2 lb ... Musta been hit by something as when i went looking for her she was dead on the road ... then your heads full of shudda wudda cudda's but nothing seems to help. No good losing any dog, but circumstances like these ... its gutting... Regards [bANNED TEXT] Sm Ant

IMO [bANNED TEXT], I think you'd be best setting up a live catch multi trap ( old ones are the best) and then once old rattys in there, Wind ur pup up let him see it and get worked up then either in your garden, or a field let the rat out and let your pup have his kill. Fills em with confidence n its how i started my Russells Then once hes gettin the hang of it get im out mooching some different ground u know holds rats, perhaps with other terriers. Young dogs learn a lot that way and when it comes to ratting there aint many rules, the more enthusiastic the better. All the bes

Top stuff, must of been frustrating . . . But dogs will be dogs, better luck next time All the best ant

Exactly what i was guna say mate ... I too have a young dog and was eager as hell to get her out asap and see what its all about but, after advise from mates and people on here who know what theyre talkin about i held back. No problem getting your pup out mooching about, it will only benefit. But letting it watch and run at 4 months , barking with frustration at this age could trn into barking whenever the dog sees something or is coursing, this a hard thing to knock out of em and what every lurcher owner could do without. Just my oppinion. Ant
