    Pet fox

Theres a sort of urban advernture place / farm not far from here. They let all the school kids go on days out etc and they have a big dog fox as a pet, they bring it out on a lead and let the kiddies get their pics taken.... Madness!!!! SM
  3. A wolf??? would that not be just like two dogs scrapping ???
  4. I like to believe theyre knocking about!! Wouldnt like to run into one on the lamp mind. Me n the family have been going to a place in cumbria for yearssss, place called Humphrey Head. My grandad was stationed there when he was in the war and we've went there ever since, and its apparently where the last wolf in england was killed. Any whooo, an uncle swears one day up on the head he seen a realy large sandy coloured cat, too big to be feral and to powerfull to be a dog. He said he watched it on a rock crevice for sumtime to makesure his eyes were not decieving him, then it clambered i
  5. In my experience the best way to get your dog introduced to ratting is to actualy let her have a day out with sum experienced terriers. If this aint possible, get a live catch trap set up and once u've got urself a few good sized rats. Take her into the field an wind her up with em ... Make sure she's keen as hell and then let one out and release her, insticnt should take over and she should do what comes naturaly to her, on it in no time, once she's shaping up at killing the ones you relsease try her mooching round places you KNOW hold rats, again this is better with more than one dog but
  6. Well done [bANNED TEXT] ... and its never only a rabbit haha specialy when shes young Keep huntin Ant
  7. Nice Pup! Bet it will be a dream to train!! Ant
  8. Ive worked with a few belgian shepherds, and looking at your dogs head id say there is definatly some shepherd in there, although he's more greyhound.. Powerfull lookin animal n e whoo. Ant
  9. Great to have around if you keep more than a few dogs, Mine's just a modified electric one, with the side rails removed and a box built round it, Speed is controlled on a dial, comes in handy when uve got a dog recoverin from an injury. Will try n get sum pics up soon... Ant
  10. Just one of them things, i dont think it makes a big difference either way, Ive never had any problems with the collar on, found it quite usefull realy ... but heard of folk who have had dogs snag collars on brambler fences etc when in pursuit of quarry. Ant
  11. Gutted for ya [bANNED TEXT] At least ya done the right thing for all partis involved, wouldnt of been fair to prolong his pain. Regards Ant
  12. Well Ive just bought two Lamps off of eBay ... One a Clulite CB2 With battery And the other a Coleman lamp ... Cracking beam just gunna strip the cigarette lighter off and attatch it to a battery , both crackinglamps for the price Well chuffed ant
  13. I've only ever come across one when i was working at a kennels, the dog was in for boarding and looked like a german shepherd but had adopted a greyhounds frame ... I made sure i was in on the day the owner picked it up just to pick his brains, turns out the dog was 18 months and was an excellent all rounder and exelled and lamping fox, the dog was a gentle giant and smart looking. I breed GSD's Myself and dont think theyre a particularly agressive breed but like anyother working dog they focus on the task in hand, which in their case is guarding. Any dog in the wrong hands can be dangerous
  14. Brickie [bANNED TEXT] ... If your main quarry is rabbits but u would prefer somthing that will be just as keen on fox id suggest a Beddy X greyhound mix ... This is not to say that any other cross will not take fox, just beddy X's IMO make great all rounders and are as game as anything ... As for dog or bitch ... thats realy your preference ... There are People who say bitches are more loyal, yet others suggest having a working lurcher bitch is a nusance due to coming into season half way through YOUR season lol ... but i dnt take no notice both work for me. I agree with the abov
  15. Got myself a new lurcher this week, at last !!! :11: She's a 7 months old, Saluki greyhound / wheaton X bull / greyhound. Lovley lookin, brindle markings, broken coated with a wheaton like goatee. built like a saluki with cracking bone. Absoloutly chuffed with her ... She's very well behaved for a youngun, electric speed and is spot on with the basics. A credit to the lad i got her off Will get some pics up of her this week hopefully and keep ya'll posted on her progress. AnT
  16. Like every ones said, if it was her first time out she may just be a bit rusty and excited at the face she's caught a bunny and aint done since last season. Next few trips out if the problem persists I'd re-introduce the dummy or whatever method you prefer for polishing her retrieving skills up. If she worked well last year she knows her job, just a case of screwin her head back on. Best of luck Ant
  17. Haha My thoughts exactly :11: Ant
  18. Thanks LB. Much appriciated Ant
  19. Well when your hearts set on a dog no 1's gunna change your mind But I agree with previous posts the Wire haired Pointer is much more versatile and IMO is a much more steady dog. Still not a patch on the arl' Vizsla tho Funnily enough theres a few foke say the wire haires vizsla is better than the short coat version. Wouldnt know mself as ive never seen a short coat work, but with my own dog im well impressed, He'll do what evers asked of him even thought he's the house dog. ( me mar dnt like to see im outside with the lurchers n terriers :11: ) Just a great all rounder. And i
  20. not long come back from his kennels, total devestation!!! The dogs he has left (about are all suffering from severe burns, stress, and breathing problems due to the smoke. All of his possesions i.e. his treadmill, mincer, Dog meds, chest freezer and all its contents. basicaly EVERYTHING he owned has been torched in the blaze. Just feel so sorry for him, wouldnt wish it on me worst enemy. The lads at the track have rallyed round and made a few donations to help him out with basic expenses like dog food and medication etc, but would still say its 50/50 with the dogs he has left ... Sad S
  21. I'd reccomend a Hungarian Vizsla from working lines. I agree that what ever dog you get it needs to be from good solid working lines, as with many pedigree breeds nowadays theyre being bred for showing or pets. Ant
