cant beat whats natural to the river or lake yer fishing,i know mackeral work but they aint native to rivers so a live roach or perch or whatever and yer cant go wrong! i think useing gold fish is cheating abit and to use a pet well come on wtf lol ide rather sit it out than use pet fish for bait plus yer dunno what parrasites yer may introduce to the water yer fish take a look what reintroductions has done to certain lakes in cumbria nearly made the vendace extinct and it aint helped its realtive the schelly (powen) or the char for that matter so yeah keep useing aquarium fish and knack the

yer would think that this would protect the fish but my personal opinion is that it dont,we had a fish kill ban imposed here in england to me thats done sweet f/a spring fish are still present in many rivers ok maybe not the numbers that they were in time gone by,but we still do get em,we even had bans on fishing in certain tidal waters to help protect the salmon in certain circumstances again its done nothing in my opinion i see spring fish every year on my local river the TEES and TYNE (NORTHUMBRIAN) I never see them on the river WEAR only ever seen 2 spring fish in 34 years when i say sprin

perthshire keeper yeah it was 20 summit pound mate yer say yer seen one in a net off the coast yeah? well the Tyne gets many big sea trout every year, funny thing is they seem to run the south Tyne most the sea trout, dont get me wrong they a good few in the tyne system but ive always cored well at haltwhistle and alston areas, i seen some big sea trout well over the 20 lb bracket at slaggyford in the spawning bescks ( on the redds) but the river Wear is better for sea trout or used to be they dwindled a bit over the years and the wear is becomeing a salmon river rather than sea trout, ive had so -

Record Sea Trout From The Late 80S

the yorks esk is about 30 miles long ! two miles from the sea it becomes freshwater, the river narrows to a very small stream in most places, where he caught the fish was in a tidal section where when the tide drops it leaves very narrow rapids,he caught the fish as the pools fill up off the tide,it was rare to have coloured fish that far down but it did happen from time to time...... -
I HAVE MADE ME OWN BOILIEE many times though not for years now i used mine for barbel, carp and cats though i rarely use them for carp or cats these days prefering floating and live and dead baits for the latter,i used to use nash, then switched to john baker baits as i seen them once at the NEC at Birmingham, what i found was esp with boris (barbel) that the sweet baits didnt work one bit for me on the rivers i was fishing ie the river Wear at Durham probly the furthest northern barbel in the uk i dont any further north than that, none i know of in the Tyne and beyond also i fishe the River Tees

seen many otters on the river Tees middle and upper reaches, now the river has lost a 12 mile tidal section due to a flood barrier and the barrier also helps keep the remaining tidal water out of the fresh, unatural yes but youtube the Tees at stockton in 1977 me mother used to say if yer fall in go straight to one of the high street shops and they will RUSH yer to hospital ! yeah that bad due to industrial pollution so now we have one or two in the town on the lower reaches, very nice to see,the Tees has some massive salmon well over 30lbs every year with fish being trapped in the old school e/a

the size of the trout will i suppose depend on the altitude, ive found that the higher yer go the smaller they seem to get in a way, yeah trout maybe grayling probly bullhead (trouts dinner) and maybe minnow and just maybe loach, invest in some poaroid sun glasses these take the glare from the water and help the human eye see beneeth the waters surface any polaroids will work yer can buy proper fishing glasses i like optix

scaffy tubes or something similar shaped like church organ pipes meshed at the bottom say six small section of pipe drop em in the drink and away yer go,yer could use a eel net i suppose but one of our local fisheries carp pool is plagued with them, the owner lets yer keep as many as yer can get i allways get me shre from his traps like the scaffy tube things,we have still got a few strongholds for native cray fish up here dunno about down the south of the country whats the situation down there ?
