  1. Worked well for me stand back and be quiet the fox will bolt common sense any man that hunts foxes will tell you that.. obviously I was schooled the right way and not the way yous where What a load of shite, or 90% of the time yes, but by no means every time, it can bob out straight away or it might sulk & stay put, there ain't no guarentees, in any part of terrier work..
  2. They tried to but they were killed by red kites, pine martins. gos hawks, buzzards, otters ,polecats, sea eagles and one nest was destroyed when a tree fell on it by a beaver I'm not sure are you joking or just misinformed http://britishbirds.co.uk/news-and-comment/common-cranes-breeding-in-Scotland Seem to be doing well on that evidence.Lol
  3. Sounds good, booked inchmarlo & black hall for two days when I'm up, il get you out for a day, ghilling of course ;-)
  4. Here's the pictures of my last seasons tally. Hope you enjoyed :-) lets hope this seasons a bit better
  5. Apart from the bustard (&f*****g beaver) I can't think of any non predatory species being reintroduced, it boils my piss more than most things They’re doing water voles not far from me; not exactly re-introduction, but adding to the numbers like. That’s how it should be; fixing ecosystems from the bottom upwards.Couldn't agree any more with your last sentence, surely it's just common sense??
  6. Why is it lurcher lads, in general, think there the only ones allowed to kill a hare ?? Between the lads who wreck fences crops etc in pursuit of a bit of sport & the crop damage the numbers of hares being talked about can do. There's no wonder that farmers want them thinned right out & not just lightly controlled, can I blame them, no!! . . Sadly dogs running hares has been rotted from the inside by a few & in turn ruined it for the rest... Iv terriers & lurchers, work them 6 days a week & used my gun once in the last two years , so don't give me the "you shooting wanker
  7. I think there going well, bar the foxes eating alot of the eggs / chicks
  8. Apart from the bustard (&f***ing beaver) I can't think of any non predatory species being reintroduced, it boils my piss more than most things
  9. I keepered in what the called a "core capercaillie area" there was four figure grants for buying larsons snares fenns etc etc, all to help the cappa, which I think is great. You bring up the point that it all could be a totally fruitless excersise as where there's cappa there's usually Martin, and for me the Martin is the biggest threat to the breeding success of the cappa..

Bob, after I chapped the money, he wasn't on here from that day , for over 3 weeks. When he got back on he sent message saying, busy with dog, drink, women, etc etc. at the end of the day if he was / is too busy to do them, then that's easily solved, just don't take folks money & just say "I'm too busy, sorry" it ain't rocket science is it?? There's 4 or 5 I know that are in the same boat as me. It's just part & parcel of the Internet & dealing with a user name I guess,

  15. Adam air 2006 in a similar area took a week to locate, and another involving air France a330, granted not quite as long. maybe it's human nature to forget similar events ?? The old ocean is a big deep old place..
  16. That's a thing high up on my bucket list..
  17. Going back up north in April, earlie season the river has a good head of real good brownies, fish too 7lb or so are caught every year. I fancy having a bash for one of the big lads, and thinking of trying steamer fishing down deep. Any one use this style to much success. ?
  18. Nice to see some good sides on the hole, makes a change from the bomb site looking holes that often turn up on here.
  19. At certain times it would no doubt help a bit as birds can only eat so much & as you say they look for a easy meal. But in the long term, your right in what you say about it being a partial short term ease on the problem.Other types of birds very rarely eat carrion so it wouldn't help with them. The only thing I know helped me was to get the birds to wood as earlie as possible, usually mid/late June, too give them time to grow & wise up a bit, before bop chicks are born.. I think in Sweden they have or had a law that allows them to control bop etc, for 4weeks, with in about 200 yards
  20. if the question " dogs that has started late cannot reach their full potential how does that work ? " is aimed at what I said allow me to explain. I never said a dog that is started late cannot reach it full potential I said a older dog that through inactivity will not reach its potential. An example I've a mate that's got a cracking dog that you could count on for a dig but through my mate having work commitments the dog hasn't been grafted this year . Now for me the dog hasn't reached its full potential ! If the question wasn't aimed at me I apologize for the long post . :-) I can't remember
  21. Iv had a fair few dogs that have started later than I'd hoped, & like wise had dogs that have started what I'd call earlie. If I take on a pup, I accept that there's going to be variations on when & how pups starts, for me that's a great part of it, watching young dogs start & learn the trade, wether what I see pleases me or not. Digging to a true digging dog that knows its game, is boring in comparrison to the highs & lows of bringing on a young un. Folk expecting pups to graft away a few months after they've lost there puppy teeth are simply numb as feck, no respect nor id

  23. i know a good grouse place in scotland... in angus.. not far from Aberdeen....and it has one fo the best and most productive and dedicated team of keepers and i think one of the beast grouse head keepers north of the border (thou the head man mayyyyy be slightly of his rocker ) and they have a guy separate from the keepers who catches rabbits all day every day and that's all he dose i fact he is the old head keeper.... simply because on a good estate a team of keepers dont have time for sleep let alone arseing about after rabbits I WAS ON A BIG ESTATE IN DECEMBER,,NEAR THERE,NOT I MILLIAN M
