  3. I'm not telling you what to do but you shouldn't have to hole end it .or at that age. Is he a lazy dog ?
  4. you should have a good knowing of what your dog is like , obviously. If man who had it a year was another one who tell you this and that then what can you believe he was doing. But when thinking of good old dogs the go out and work every time and for a lifetime and not to just please a owner.if you say he dug 12 , 15 , that's like a experience ladder for some and could been a make or break of ya dog. Maybe one or two seasons of decent work. You should try him a few times more or in the right environment. Seems a queer age though and wouldn't say it done too much .
  5. Still no advice of the experts , so I wouldn't panic. Must be bedtime
  6. His opinion on small dogs and the size to get to its fox in tight places andto work well through his breeding from the parentage ,family of dogs.saw some small ,but strong weight .saw too small runty looking things.I think it just his preference and aim with small dogs like that but surely you can get into to much breeding.
  7. Smallest I mostly seen too and few russels years ago. I don't think it fair or right for a patterdale to be that small for some
  8. Don't know size or weight but smallest patterdale I saw work was a bitch called tiesal bn lent me about 2004.she was about 15 months and nothing done .first earth that day my mates dog said no. She flew in and had hold of fox. It was small earth and we got them fast. Second place that day , again my mate unentered dog said no. Tried tiesal entered and was quiet. We got a mark way over about six foot more , we dug right on top of them. About five hour. Dead dog .lively fox .and enough room. Not to much bites. But backstabbing of the lads who with me about the dog after praising it all day. Any
  9. Who knows who's doing what and how things are working. Bullshiters everywhere and good Dogmen. One thing for sure in this day and age . the dog mightn squeel but the ones would if the get caught .you can sing it boy
  10. This weather is more like the old January February weather . the old stuff going to ground properly.
  11. Seen and heard of some .bedlingtons in England years ago but I've never seen one work myself . I saw beddy whippets work about thirty years ago but the was rabbit dogs and was in a Bobbery pack. I had a first cross beddy greyhound ,kes , in the ninetees for about a year . he took fox and had a good few owners

  13. Do you remember the one we got over years back, some chap that had a pub over with ye sent it over to us,the most useless animal on 4 legs i ever witnessed, lol.should sent it to me . could of been me poachers dog on my tasty perm
  14. I know what you mean but I have OK permission .the were hotspots every season and I'd be leaving places be as got into February. Most I dug here in a day was 3 foxes in the winter and that was two earths but wasn't too difficult and plenty of time in the day. There's a big variety here say , types of earths. Ground. A lot of others at it too but I've done good enough and had more than anyone I know down here . then again , I don't know any terriermen , lol
  15. Don't blame ya. Same myself . I've done enough of that lark too.
  16. True. But lot of places where the just no burrows , even in forestries .hard finding new places and even up the country other men who from there are finding it hard for the being anything .they traveling out more . snares probably emptying places. Saw a couple of fox about today though , Harrier's
  17. had a neighborly visit . but not in the burrow
  18. bolted a decent fox today . took a bit to find .
  19. Yes . first you have to find stuff and all the rest of it . not sit on a quad or someone show ya where to go. Bolted a nice tasty fox today . if your dogs and you do better than let us know . or even better ya can come for a dig. Different ballgame here . I done a couple of season in Stafford . fkn gamekeeper usless. We was digging all stuff
  20. My season been the quietest ever since having dogs , or out with others . for bolts , hunting and digging . got bit disheartened because lot places last year had been done by a stampede and other places the was no game about . all I'm out digging is a couple of days a week and one dog has four digs and the other five . I have one dog healed even though the both as keen as fk . so hopefully can have a few digs and hunts still
  21. Cheers pal. Out tomorrow hopefully . time going fast . not to panic
  22. How'd you find these chocolate dogs going for ya? , or after a few seasons . the old stuff had odd chocolates .seems like the come back out from somewhere . I know some out there arnt the real ones but comes down to how the work
  23. In the morning when I rise to go out with me dogs , its not a black thing or white thing . its the preference . what's inside that counts .every one to the own .
