fox shooting nite 2 with ss on the trigger
jamie g replied to sounder's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
top shooting there lads looks like the foxes are getting took out good and proper there -
both very accurate mate 1/2 inch grouping at 100 yards if you do your bit. my mate has shot a couple of 1/4 inch groups at 100 yards with mine and i no he has shot less then 1/2 inch with his 223. so about the same really. i just like the more flater shooting of the 22/250 set it a 1 1/2 inchs high at 100 yards and your pretty much flat out to 300 or there about Is that using factory ammo mate? yes with factory ammo mate of course homeloads would be better or the same sort of groups because under 1/2 inch would be pretty hard to beat with factory ammo and rifle. bu

i disgree with you there mr l my 22/250 with ase cqb mod on against my mates 223 with ase cqb mod on. if your eyes was covered i shot both rifles i thnik it would be hard for you to say which one is which out of the two calibers

any will be ideal to be honest. 223 has more legs at longer range and more bullet choice to which is better. but 222 is very good acuracy wise and use to be the best on the benchrest before the 6mm came along. people say the 222 is very accurate because if you look at the neck on it its very long this aids accuracy. a lad on the bbs jonty has a 222 and reloads for it with 50g amax and its super accurate ive seen some of the groups at 150 yards and 200 yards and there super. if you want to use some factory loads then 223 is the way to go i think. but if you are going to reload for

westy it doenst matter if you send a fax you cant have expanding ammo by post its against the law mate. face to face only Oh I see - thanks for that Jamie - some things take time getting through my thick skull, thanks for being persistant mate Cheers Westy ps - Are you the same Jamie G off the BBS ? yes mate you can get target ammo in the post but not expanding

from reading your post it sounds like you want your ticket opened up am i right ? so you can use your rifles on any ground you have permission over or incase you get more ground so you wont have to get it checked then. by looking at your fac ticket they can see how much you have used your rifle by the ammo amounts. that is a good thing to point out. also you could tell them you have missed out on new shooting ground because the farmer has asked you to do the vermin control on there but you would hve to see if the land is passed 1st

i was reading on a site once a guy shot 2 foxes around the bird pens he looks after ! he said they where not even bothered by him before he shot them. turns out they where town foxes that had been injured fixed up by a vet then released out in the countryside by the rspca ! that to me is daft they are town foxes that i bet hasnt really had to catch food before. because the bins around the local area have been raided by them ! yet the rspca released them in the sticks when there town foxes the morons. them being shot with the shotgun was the best thing for them imo

Zeroing with scope with no parallax adjustment
jamie g replied to snapper5's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
it will be fine mate. most none px scope are set px to say 100 yards anyway depending on what it is. some of the airrifle ones that will be fine on rimfire will most likely be set at 50 yard px. most top end scope with px if you look through them and you have it on 100yards it still looks super clear at 200 ! but when you zoom in on more mag then you mite have to adjust the px to suite -
ghet it well you can most shops only pay from pence to £1.00 per rabbit

cant get expanding ammo in post mate. and as for price you got to see which will work out best for you as you mite find it cheaper somewhere else but then dont forget the fuel cost on top of that inless you have to pass such places for work. you got south yorkshire shooting supplys by you havent you ?? there pretty good so im told with good service and prices. as for ammo prices it will depend on brand. here 50 rounds of hmr ammo is £11 pound hornady but federal ammo is £12.50 for 50 remmy ammo is £12 for 50 and eley subs for 22lr is about £35 for 500. but im lucky as my mate g

RIFLE CALIBRE HAVE I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE?
jamie g replied to gamegunner's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
if i where to have a deer rifle i would have the 6.5x55. good choice of bullets, nice to shoot so im told not to heavy on recoil and pretty flat shooting with a load of different type bullets for them from light to heavy. -
mate 150 yards is more then you would shoot with a 22lr ! let alone a air rifle. no one on here is going to tell you how to tune it over the 12 ftlb legal limit. if you got nicked with a air rifle over that 12ftlb you are going to be in the poo. you must have a fire arms ticket to have a air rifle over that power. and even then 150 yards is a no no. your be lucky to get around 70 yards consistent head shots on rabbits AND THAT IS ON A STILL DAY !
-
Yep, save up! In all honesty £250 isn't going to get you much. There was a CZ 527 Lux s/h for that money over at Minsterley Ranges a while back. If it shoots, that'd probably fit the bill. Thanks for the advice - it looks like I will have to start saving up then - but its so blardy difficult with all the goodies I keep seeing !! Cheers Westy just use the others for now mate then get a 223 when you have abit more cash to spend. its better getting the right one then having to sell one your not happy with.

in that case then , why don't we all just pop off down the local dog pound and get 1 staffy and 1 greyhound each and breed our own top quality sh*te bull x's and put them for sale in the cmw fpmsl did i say that ? yes a working dog will more then likely give better pups but just because there from working stock there dont mean there going to be the bollocks. its all in the training i think
-
before the ban i dont think a fox is going to matter if its a pit x bull, staffyxbull or ebtxbull there will only be one winner and it will be the dog i hear that people say you got to breed from good working dogs but isnt it how you train a dog to ? i no a proper working dog will have more drive then a show dog but not all working dogs give out good working pups do they ? i no a guy with the cross you lot are on about and it is a fine dog but he has had other bull x dogs and they where very good also. so im guessing its about getitng the best out your dog no matter what b
