Led Torch On Top On My Scope
celticrusader replied to Keeper eley's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Got one on the break of dark last night just before using my torch setup. -
Finally someone from my end of the sticks!...well close enough, welcome mate.
-
Nice one Elliot, good luck tomorrow Dan I'm out now as week speak on the bunnies
-
Right okay!...I hope then that if you have a varied weight in the heads that you'll give yourself a chance to find a suited one through testing of the different weight range. All being said I think you need to speak to someone in person and see if you could have a 1 to 1 with someone like another shooter or club member. As said if you were closer I would've arranged something to try and sort it out.
-
Also mate not to teach you to suck eggs but get a box of heavier rounds as well mate...possibly 55 grain if you can as said before you will notice the difference in accuracy between the the lighter rounds and the heavier as a 1:9 twist is better suited for heavier rounds, if I'm right then you know that you'll be sticking with that specific grain weight.

YOU!.. Calling me a liar pal! First of all under the right circumstances it is easy as I have open flat fields at the 170 yrd range where any movement scares them off so a mate and I sit at the top of one of these fields and pop them off so yeah 160 sodding yards paced out by myself with my hmr and and my Nikko sterling game king 4-16 x50 and my pal an international shooter present. The pics have already been posted on another topic. Come to think of it I believe my profile PIC is that of a 148yrd headshot!

If it has got to that point mate is there a shooting range/ club near you you can go to or a shop where you can take it to see if it(the rifle) is damaged of sorts.
-
Don't be disheartened yet as you've yet to test it out but it is essential you have other ammunition and if you have heavier ammo and lighter ammo its a good idea to see which stabilises in your rifle more suitably as that prefurred type is what you want to stick with. Apparently the cz527 if this is the model I recall you stated, in .223 has a 1:9 twist which would be more suitable firing heavier rounds. Forget the homeloads you had at the moment and pick up some heavier grains ...if you can as I know unless your reloading they can be abit of a bugger to come by as my mate tells me.

Eley Subsonic Hp .22Lr Ammunition
celticrusader replied to redlion's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yeah I was talking about the green box, was unsure myself if they ran at a higher velocity previously but then have been informed that they were never that high nor consistent to that either....strange but never the less there slower velocity gives time for more expansion and have to admit I do love the eley sub's in my semi auto. -
Yeah you will be recommended a .17 hmr first if you have no experience, regardless of that being wrong or right as you have reason but no experience or have no proof of any...unless you can provide some or a referee who can state you have the relevant competency. This is just a prediction I think you will be pushed towards.

Win win all round mate...CZ's no.1 as an all rounder bigad!
-
Yes absolutely deker but its not what it is my friend it's what it looks like and I think these things can be twisted and used against us is what is the main concern, I don't believe most of the people on here specifically hunt small game with CF but I have met a few personally and its not in our favour just for the humour of turning something into a bloody pulp although it does happen sometimes.
-
Yep I do agree...personally I think its a waste on rabbits and anything edible as well.
-
Tbh bigad I would of thought that the results would be minimal in comparison and should be good with most of the top brands...just try and see basicly mate!
-
I've shot two rabbits with the hmr in the past couple of years on the top of a hill dropping into the valley and both at the base, doubt this is the same but it can imagine that with something like an air rifle you would gain in this circumstance but in reverse would loose out. Don't quote me on that tho!
-
Yeah it looks similar to the cz 455 with the thumbhole and those stocks are heavy lumps of wood...I don't mind tho!
-
Yeah i truly hope it does indeed sort your zeroing out let's shoot. What's your twist rate on your cz and what grain rounds are you using as well?
-
Its not a problem mate but this was only discussed a couple of weeks back and I'm sure you can find the info you require easily enough..that said mate you need to specify what you want it for because we can't really give you any advice otherwise.

Ha ha my uncle bought me a Baikal for Christmas when I was 18.....best xmas present ever having a shotgun .lol
-
Very true mate and each to there own, what we do have though is people do have varying techniques and am impressed that you can indeed shoot 200 yards with a 3-9 as I have perfect eyesight and struggle to see that far unless you're not specific of the round placement and don't include Kitts which are predominantly half the size at best. That said larger targets don't need larger magnification and I do understand ..its all about the quarry and the distance and don't understand the need to restrict if it causes no problems as you've said most will never take it off a 6 or 8 x mag then a 4-16 or
-
Ha ha Russian Baikal's...used to have one, be prepared for some abuse if you shoot with a club or other people but it if alone they are a basic solid gun that takes a good knock from my experience...certainly something to not brag about tho but it will get the job done. Fabarm?...I know the name from somewhere but my mind draws a blank at the moment when I know it shouldn't.
