  1. Well tbh all rimfires have ammo problems and many have yet experienced such so speak for yourself skullhooker but I love mine, that said I do believe something needs to be addressed.
  2. Good job mate, night time work for the foxes is something I find I dont have the time to do a lot of but iam hoping to change that. Thumbs up mate
  3. I've only used 20grain when I first bought my hmr about 2012 since then its always been 17grain...shame you've now joined the bad batch club mate.
  4. Ha ha ..sounds good mate, what you got the 25-06 for?
  5. Ok mate will do...thought you were over here that's all.lol
  6. What's wrong with your .243 hutchey? Saving money I take it born hunter?
  7. I think its more about the circumstances, being that whilst out rabbiting etc or in close proximity to built up areas like dan said then yeh the hmr would be a choice more suitable maybe.
  8. Mmm very true, looking into a storage safe for ammo as my space is running out and I've limited room to put it anywhere myself.
  9. On 16x zoom and as I'm zeroed I believe for 75 yards I had a 4 inch drop roughly. so this doe came hopping out and when it and myself had settled I sqeaked and got her head up and finished the session with a lovely headshot
  10. Just take them apart for storage, most shotguns apart from semi autos and pumps you should be able to brake down. You could ask and as I've known plenty who used to have shotguns and rifles around the chimney but secured by a chain...that being said it may prove an insecurity to a fully locked safe and be a breach point!
  11. The red dot is where one was taken at 145yrds
  12. All of the above said mate my hmr is set for long range rabbiting without sacrificing upclose shooting, my 22lr is set up for repetitive short range rabbiting and i have a red dot on it for ratting grom the hips in the wood or incase something pops out a couple of feet in front of me. both compliment each other when I need.
  13. Think I paid £60 for mine and I have an ir on my hawke panorama but havnt used it yet. Tbh I dont think I've needed one so far and I personally dont see the extra need for it for me, I do find I use high magnification when long range rabbiting but I also run a 20 inch plus retractable bipod on my hmr from where I sit in a stress free position on my ass which gives good ground clearance over open distances.
  14. I'll upload a PIC for you when I get home just to show you I'm not pulling your leg mate.
  15. Dont think I have the it on mine..if do I havnt used it lol, the 4-16 will do well mate but if something gets in close you'll have trouble shooting up close with a 6x as apposed to a 4x at the minimum...that said extra mag will really help on the range. The rest is up to you mate but mine runs well on my hmr.
  16. I'm impressed with mine, does what it says on the tin and should be ok on some of the 22 cf's but I'd put something else on if I was gunna put a scope on something with a bit of shock factor, I dont know what they're like with cf's someone else might be able to confirm or deny that for you.
  17. I've seen one on the side of the road near Cardiff last year...quite common for some...presumably up north.
  18. It should come back with aolq quarry anyway as that is mandatory all round now...so ive been told by my feo.
  19. Yep...helped me put six in a thumbnail at the 100m range, would luv higher magnification but you gotta give up the lower mag aswell which is a shame.
  20. You can pick them up cheaper on eBay where I got mine, had a gold crown on my .22lr which was old as it came with it and it took a huge knock but still worked fine...replaced it with a hawke panorama 6 weeks ago. Apparently the nikko mountmasters have had problems but I've not had any and thought they're great for rimmies..only gripe being as soon as sun goes down it gets dark in that tube quite quick. For rimfire or centre fire?
  21. Yeh I got a Nikko gameking 4-16x50 on my hmr...dont need anything else.
  22. I had a frigging nightmare trying to setup my hmr a year or two back mate...sent back 3 sets of mounts! you just end up overlooking the basics and then they end up biting you on your ass. That said chuck US a photo of the full setup of the scope and how it sits on the rifle if you can mate.
  23. Yeh I was thinking of .223 but wayed up my options and thought you know what?.. I got a 22lr semi auto for rabbits and ratting in close, a 17 hmr for longer ranges and now a .243 for fox and aolq so all my bases are covered. Dont think I need another rifle at the moment but only time will tell .lol My thoughts on the .223 are the same as most of the other rifles ..cracking round for a rifle permitting the users circumstances.
  24. Close call hey mate...glad its going well for you.
