  1. Hi all, i'm part of the way through making a budget long net and was thinking about the poles earlier. Because I'm trying to make it as cheap as possible I don't want to spend £4 on each pole buying the proper ones . I was just wondering what people use. I heard some people use hazel? Thanks Dan
  2. hi, Johnathan do you you know anyone who does any? Or get to know someone on here who does that would let you go with them and also take your terriers with you. I think them seeing how it's done by experienced terriers would help them get into it. Oh and welcome to the forum. ATB Dan
  3. Thanks I think I've decided to go with 100%, thought that I would rather have a bit shorter net but a net that is going to catch well rather than a really long net that doesn't catch good numbers. Cheers Dan
  4. Hi all, I've started making a long net and was just wondering weather people prefer to do 50 or 100% baggage. I was wanting as long of a net as possible with the twine I have so was going to go for 50% but is 50 anywhere as near as good as 100% at catching and holding? Is there any noticeable difference in catching rabbits between 50 and 100. Thanks Dan
  5. I think some lads use like peanut butter or chocolate spread (things that the rat has to sort of stay there to eat, not able to drag it away, giving you long enough to pull the trigger) ATB Dan
  6. would this be strong enough Yea it's been fine for me but I suppose it's get what you pay for. I think it's a case of the more you spend the longer it'll last (usually) ATB Dan
  7. Toolstation: cheapest i've found http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Landscaping/Fencing/Galvanised+Welded+Mesh+6m+900mm+wide+x+25mm/d130/sd3333/p52429
  8. I wouldn't use the 5cm mesh if I were you i think they could probably get out. I think I've got 25mm on some of the run but 10mm on most. The smaller the better really. I think 25mm works out cheapest, I've never had any problems with it. I don't know if you know but don't use chicken mesh, ferrets can make holes in it. Welded mesh is the best.
  9. I don't keep em myself but a friend of mine does glove, jesses, scales, perch, hoods sorry can't think of anything else of top of my head ATB Dan
  10. What sort of size is it and where abouts are you? Cheers Dan
  11. Shame that mate. I have to put mine in a spare hutch when I clean them out cause my sisters cats quite interested in them. Surprised when you said they killed your jill, i don't think my cat would dare, she's tried it once to many times through the mesh and got a bad nip on her foot. She just looks now from about 10ft away, still i don't risk it. About keeping the cats out of the garden you can get those cat and dog reppellers fairly cheap might be good buy. Sorry for the essay ATB Dan
  12. Hi Tom, welcome to the forum good luck with your game keeping/ conservation ATB Dan
  13. Hope all goes well with them mate ATB Dan
  14. I was told that front chest shots will injure the pigeon because the pellet will hit the breast plate and not an organ. (not sure if it's right) likes been said i would want to go for a head shot but if you cant i'd wait until the bird moves slightly. ATB Dan
  15. Likes been said, let her watch a experienced dog that might show her what she's supposed to do atb Dan

  18. I am buying all new ferreting equipment and so I need to buy a new spade has any one ever used one of these? Or am i best sticking to the bulldog rabbiting spade? Or what do others use? thanks Dan http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1024&bih=653&q=post+hole+digger&oq=post+hole+&gs_l=img.3.0.0l10.3364.6898.0.8091.10.10.0.0.0.0.257.1081.8j1j1.10.0...0.0...1ac.1.12.img.QUTc3G2his0#imgrc=_
