    tiercel .my friend is comeing around tomorrow hopefully with his malamute x greyhound 28 ins 80lbs .if he shows up i will put some pictures up he recently went out with a man courseing in the daylight and the man said oh malxg .i will bet you 50 that my cxg is faster than your malxg .best of five my friends dog is only a 14 months old pup .it caught two out of three the cxg only caught one out of three if they could have found more hares the malxg could easily have caught three out of 5 or possibly 4 out of five .this dog is big 28 at the shoulder weighs at least 80lbs .most so called course

    c hall i dont run anything at the moment as my 13 years old severely autistic son has nearly destroyed me mentally and emotionaly speaking.i started in 1970 up to when he was born in 1999.i have had all sorts of crosses dxg cxg gsdxg lab xg +various mixes .i allways go back to gsdxg.in courseing i like a dog that has got the brain to know when to strike at the hare preferably 27 28 at the shoulder 75 to 80lbs a dog that has got a good lenght on his body strong bone a long and low looking dog for its size .that runs low to the ground for its height not leggy medium leg lenght.if the right dog

    tiercel.they have got the stamina but i prefer to see a dog with strikeing power they dont have to chase as far or turn as many times.the dogs were defenitley working the hare makeing it turn .most lurchers would have not stayed those kind of distances .i suppose it is all down to the style of running dog one prefers .i think a dog that can double up is far more exciteing to watch but not many are capable of doing that .theres not many turbo powerd dogs around now days .i prefer a dog that follows the hare a a few feet behind and catches it by turning on its turbo like some top greyhounds can

    most importantly be fully aware of the dangers of fences and hedges is most important.which is why they should be taken out at 4 months onwards to be schooled in such dangers.most dogs that get badly injured get so by not being fully aware of the dangers of barbed wire hedges etc .it is better for a pup to bounce of any objects while still slow than to be let off in such a dangerous envoirement at 10 months

    kittlerox.my friend has two whippets a 10 month old dog and a four month old bitch .he takes them out twice a day and has caught a couple of rabitts with the dog pup .he only lamps a couple of rabitts then comes home he is slowly building up there stamina and teaching them about barbed wire hedges etc .he has them both retreiveing.by throwing a ball in the garden in torch light so they get used to retreiveing in the dark.these two pups when trained will give him a lot of good sport .my brother had a whippet years ago and he never hit any wire or other objects he had very good stamina and tho

    lampalurcher.i had a nice fawn greyhound bitch useless on the track didnt want to know .used to slip her on chinese water deer preban .caught them up easily never had one escape .with x track greyhounds you have to pick the ground to run them on .never run them on hard winter ground never ever run them in small fields or near barbed wire ,i had one called kate and she could manage three courses when very fit .bred three litters out of a big white bitch called patch produced some great lurcher pups.with x track greyhounds the main thing to do is have the presence of mind not to let them off i

    gamekeepers dont like to many cock birds on thier ground after shooting season .if a dog doesent catch them the keepers will only catch them and wring thier necks .they are surplus to requiremeants.they can draw hens away from the ground and the keepers dont like them near there new poults

    jukel123.i have never ever seen a litter of saluki x gsd .it would be intresting to see whaht weight and shapes this cross threw.tho i should think all of the pups would have great stamina

    jukel123.i allways pick the most greyhoundy pup if possible but if it is gsd looking i am not that fussy

    northernlite.i have owned and tested so many different crosses over the years i have lost count all i do know is that there is a lot of wastage in lurcher to lurcher crosses due to the fact of blood degeneration .lack of stamina coat to thin lack of decent bone brains etc .in any breed of dog you will get one or two winners most will just be average .in greyhounds not many westmead hawks or scurlouge champs come along .it is the same with lurchers only one or two will be exceptional .she may be able to keep it up she may break down its hard to say
