    fitchet.with good prey drive your hailf way there.i remember going into a field with my friends gsd bitch .and a hare was hideing in its form she went past as if to say i haveant seen you and when she drew level she struck at it so fast the hare did not know whaht hit it

    deerdogs.yes a nice straight back dog there are still a few about but most are slopebacks.Max Emil Friedrich von Stephanitz.never wanted his dogs to be so deformed still some people only care about money where dogs are concerned.i am thinking of getting a gsd and training it to see how much they can catch .but i will be looking for a dog of the stright back type

    the pup is just getting his shape .nice deep chest great weatherproof coat the lamp battery will go flat before he does .a real proper mouching dog next year you will see his potential come thru.looking forward to seeing pictures of him next season.well done

    bunnys you are right in whaht you say i bred gsdxg dog back to a greyhound bitch they were rockets on legs but thier stamina was no better than a good greyhound they didnt have the wind .also you are right if your dog is after big stuff he will ignore the small stuff.chalk warren like bunnys you obviously know the game ?

    weasel.years ago preban when some dogs were used on mostly deer some but not all would not chase rabitts or hares .i have seen a dxg plodding behind a hare when a cwd has got up and it was like watching a different dog he was so fast the deer looked like he was thumbing a lift .if he wanted to he could have coursed hares ragged .dogs enterd on big prey animals can and will refuse to chase rabitts or hares no matter what blood is within them .chaseing a turning twisting hare uses far more energy and takes a greater effort to kill than a bigger animal .it is only natural for a lurcher to be

    bird/ i have had lots of gsdxg over the years and they do have minds of thier own they have the unusaul ability to think for themselves .one day i was up in bluebell woods and a muntjack was running thru very thick bramble i orderd him into the cover he looked at me as if to say get stuffed he then went into the field and run up the side of the wood .after i had climbed up to the top of the hill i was not in the best of moods.i thought little b.but there he was holding the dead muntjack he had thought to himself i will go up the side of the wood and catch him when he breaks cover .in the lamp

    bobby blackheart i agree that these pure bred gsd lab collie etc will not catch the fastest rabitts etc in 72 my brother got his first dog its dam was greyhound dog x labrador bitch called tina she was not that fast but could stay and was very clever most on here would say give it a cartridge but when she was put back to a courseing whippett she produced some excellent rabiting lurchers one of which was my brothers dog andy he could catch hares in daylight and was the best rabbit lamping dog i have ever seen he was pure class and used to trot like a high class race horse.people do not bull

    collies gsd labs will all catch game if lamp trained .the pups will be good bushing dogs ok as gun dogs fereting dogs .if a bitch pup is kept and put back to a whippet you will get some excellent rabiting lurchers .they definetly will outstay lurchers and will on average be far more clever.they will have nice thick coats and will not have thin skin thaht spilts like a tomatoe also they will have excellent bone and nice thick strong pads .gsd have a good lenght of stride and are not as slow as some people think .personaly i think that a bitch pup out of this litter put back to a good qualit

    i had a dog years ago called charlie he looked like a gsd .he was not very fast and did not catch as many rabitts in the lamp as a fast lurcher would he couldnt catch a hare in the lamp let alone daylight .but he was a genuine dog with a good nose and was good at flushing game out of hedges.he was a tryer and never ever gave up.the most he ever caught in the lamp was 34 rabitts he must have chased over a 100 to catch those .he could catch cwd in big open fields when They went and hid in the hedge or ditches.he was kept becuse he was a genuine dog and allways did his best
