    i was in a pheashant wood in january walking around a pen in the dark .i see some mist riseing from the ground tho it was not mist it was a new born baby muntjack.the mother had just given birth to it. i quickly left the pen so the mother would come back.ive seen some very bad cuts where muntys have slashed dogs .muntjacks are very difffecult to catch in thick cover especially with one dog.you need a dog with determination to catch in thick bramble .most dogs are not up to it.chinese waterdeer are not that fast but some can turn very well and it can take a bit of stamina to catch a good fit o

    george the ferretboy.i did say to my friend that i thought husky x greyhound would throw on average a faster dog.but malamutes can certainly stay they pull heavy loads for hours at a time

    lapin2008.i totally agree. i am 59 years old this year my father owned lurchers and i have owned them since 15yrs of age .my friend graham who owns mal has had dogs since 1978.lots of people on here do not have 44years of dog exspirience.i know for a fact that if i said to some of these so called dog men right leighton buzzard across to woburn 7 miles rough ploughing etc carrying all of the catch back at top walking speed .some of them would be so far away they might as well stayed at home .thier dogs would be knackerd and i would be saying for fecks sake come on i have not got all night to w

    malx.i think my mate has one out of the same litter as yours he has been out with a gamekeeper who said it was a donkey .best of three 50 quid the keepers lurcher caught one out of three my mates called mal caught two out of three like yours it is only 14months old.look at the length of the dogs body great long stride on him

    lamping-lad.yes i find led torches or small halogen pefectly up to the job especially in small fields and paddocks.sometimes a big powerful lamp is a bit like saying come and join us we are over here

    lamping-lad.when picking a pup i generally would watch them for a hour or two .looking for the longest in the body the shortest in the leg.if it was a ist x cgxg or gsdxg i would look for the one that had the most greyhoundy look about it .some pups tend to hit the eye so to speak .some litters are so uniform its diffecult to pick one out.colour tends to influence me especially a nice dark brindle.at the end of the day it is usaully just the luck of the draw .i personally think lurcher to lurcher are more diffecult to pick out due to the variance of the genes
