  1. Spot-on shooting there looks like you've got plenty to go at. Land owner must be well pleased.
  2. Nice shot Kev, always nice to get something for your efforts. The title of your thread bought back a few memories 'Morning Woody', had a wry chuckle to myself
  3. Had an occasion last year where the first 3 I got were mixied, so they were left for charlie.. next was a tiny kit, again left for charlie. Wondered if I was going to get anything for the pot and as I approached the ditch corner there was a plumtious, healthy bunny just waiting for a lead sleeping pill. I carefully went prone, just to make sure, and put one behind the eye at about 25 yards. Knocked it stone dead, no twitches. After a few seconds I got up and went over to claim my prize.. all of a sudden it started kicking and dissappeared into the ditch... couldn't find that one either. 5 kill
  4. Decided to change approach to the orchard permission. Instead of doing the afternoon, I opted to get up at 0300 and try fist light onwards for a couple of hours. Bear in mind that the fruit trees foliage comes down to about 2-3 ft from the ground and extends to 8-10ft upwards, and the dilemma is that the rabbits see your legs moving before you ever get to see them, and when you do it's their white a*ses dissappearing down burrows. You are normally lucky to get within air rifle range and I have found that plotting up at a warren is the more productive option 'IF' they decide to come out to pla
  5. I was awaoken at 0220 this morning by 4 cubs fighting in the road, wasn't play fighting, they were laying into the 'runt' of the littler. Noisy f*cking things... Couldn't get back to sleep either. This time last year I was cooking my breakfast, with the back door open, and sensed something in the garden.. F*ck me if a mangy old dog fox wasn't about to walk in the door. Swung my bare foot at it and it moved back a few paces out of reach, so took another swing.. same thing, not frightened in any way. Different story when I started flailing the yard broom at it though, it eventually got the mess
  6. Well done on the restoration Craig, time and effort well rewarded by the look of it. Enjoyed the read Hope it gives you many years of enjoyment.
  7. I botched a pellet holder similar to the one HuntersVermin made, but used some 1.5mm Butyl (from a pond liner). Instead of having it around my neck I used one of those clips they use for I.D. tags. I can clip it on the storm flap of my jacket or any side pocket, even inside. I fashioned the holes using a sharpened piece of brass tube, and it takes either .177 or .22. Didn't take much care over hole spacing as it was a prototype, but it does its job. Holds 42 pellets, enough to fill my HW100 mag 3 times.
  8. Another superb video guys, very enjoyable to view.
  9. Well I thought in hindsight it was too easy there has been enough outrage already but, seeing as you brought it all back up, It would be too easy to say I would have had a go but, being a 55 year old former serviceman who has had a "go" at seriously armed b*****ds in Belize, Barrundi, The Falklands and Belfast, doing something you'll never know what that is actually like, we'll never know that for sure will we. But that was then when I was a much younger, fitter man. Up here in my youth this pair would have been bloody well sorted, I can promise you that old cock! You're right, I wouldn't kn
  10. pianoman... I see you have edited your original post. You have edited out the parts where you slag off Londoners, refer to South London as a shithole, and even slag off the bystanders who witnessed wednesdays incident for not helping the lad and "putting them down". Incredible that you should post such crud in the first place. I take it from what you wrote that if you had been present at the scene you would would have waded in and sorted the situation? That would have been very heroic bearing in mind they were brandishing machetes, cleavers and hand guns... the car boot was stuffed with guns
  11. If plod thought it was serious they would have been on you straight away. The neighbour obviously informed them it was an air rifle cos if he said he didn't know what rifle it was they would have called out the firearms unit... like they did 2 doors away from me a few years back. Cordoned the road off, bullet proof vests, the works. The lad was plinking cans in his back garden with an air pistol and one of the busybodies phoned 999. Don't you just love nosey interfering neighbours.
  12. Nice shooting. Don't matter if they are kits or not, if the landowner wants a job done etc... I always take a bit of paracord and tie them from a branch about 5-6 feet high. My mate turned up with his rimmy the other week and we had a wander and he shot 2. left them under the trees to pick up later when we were lamping from the motor, and one of them had gone walkabouts. BTW, that smallest kit looks like it would just fit between 2 slices of crusty bread
  13. It arrived this morning and I have just watched it.. Thoroughly enjoyable viewing. Well done David James.
  14. Just ordered my copy of David James (HuntersVermin) new DVD, Corvid Chaos 2, from virtualnewsagent.com. If it is anything like as enjoyable as the last one I'll be very happy.
  15. Depends on what your view is of the word 'natural' I suppose. I believe it is now natural to house non native fish in an artificial pond because that is exactly what they are bred for. Koi and other ornamental fish are bred in the UK, so could they now be classed as native? All about personal opinions and what is acceptable. I don't think it is particularly natural for a heron to eat a bright orange fish, but they do. Because they have adapted to 'easy pickings' from artificial ponds, doesn't mean we have to like or accept it. I quite enjoy seeing herons in what I class as their 'natural' en
  16. Not strictly true, yes a heron will take weaker fish, but it will also take ANY fish which comes within striking distance. I have seen hundreds of them in over 40 years of angling. The heron is a relentless predator, not only do they take fish, they take any living thing which will fit down their throat ie. frogs, snakes, rats, voles, small rabbits, ducklings, chicks.. etc. etc. Have a browse through youtube to confirm this. Once they find a source of food they will return time and time again until there is no food left. I have seen a heron take a near 3lb bream which wouldn't fit down it's t
  17. Thanks Roger, understand where you are coming from. Must say though, am very pleased with the product thus far, and the service.
  18. I use AA fields in .22 and do exactly the same as Airgunguy, works a treat.
  19. secretagentmole, I experienced no problem at all ordering and receiving my NE500, in under 48 hours from order to delivery. I emailed them a couple of times and received replies within a couple of hours, then decided to purchase a spare battery and received that within 24 hours.. Seems a pretty good service to me. Roger, I note you don't even consider the Nite Eye NE500 as an option despite it being cheaper, any reason?
  20. I have recently purchased digital NV. Originally intended to have a go at a DIY setup, but decided not to for various reasons. The ones I decided to look at were the nite sites (ns50-ns200, snypercam and Nite eye (ne500). Viewed loads of footage on youtube for comparison. Dismissed snypercam as I would be paying for the ability to record video, which I don't intend to do. Decided to go with the Nite Eye NE500. Reason being it had 'similar' specification to the NS200, but was less than the cost of the NS50. Am well pleased with it. Suppose it all comes down to personal preference in the end, a
  21. Agree with Craig Fosse, very pleased with my Hawke 400..
  22. tinson1 I use a Hawke Sport-HD 3-9x40 AO IR, and can't fault it at all. Both my shooting pals were 'very' impressed by the clarity of it. Superb for its price of £85, I would definitely recommend it. Like all things, choice of scope is a personal thing.
  23. Although my setup is the Nite Eye NE500 it's pretty similar to the NS's. It came with a small chinese Li-ion battery (85x42x26mm), but it looked crap using elastic bands to hold it to the butt, and I didn't want to put it in a pocket so thought about making a butt cover. Before committing, I had a browse on the interweb and came across the Jack Pyke Neoprene stock bullet holder. Decided to buy one and took away some of the bullet dividing stitching, 4 in total, it was a bit fiddly but came out quite well, and cost under £7.50.
  24. Excellent video VHTV, good images and commentary, got to be one of your best Well done and keep 'em coming.
