A real eye opener was the Claymore. We've all seen Mel Gibson, fencing like a musketeer with one,in 'Braveheart'. Well, they had a replica from the Wallace collection - I could barely pick the bloody thing up ! It make you realise how brutal and intense warfare must have been - one guy said to me that, if we fought wars like this today, we might be so eager to do it !

Anyone here do this, interested in it or attend events ? By way of a long story that I won't go into, I spent part of the weekend with a friend, who was taking part in a Medieval Festival. It's not something that has interested me, but I have to say it was both fascinating and educating ! There were people from various re-enactment groups (Civil War, Crusades etc) and I was particularly interested in the weaponry they all had on display - swords of every kind, pikes, axes, hammers - and all of them absolutely brutal ! Good post pal That's the same reason I like to post about politics on here and a few other right leaning sites (well, that and the fact it's a laugh winding folk up ), how can you develop your own views and beliefs if you never challenge them? Hunting isn't an issue that's neatly divided along left/right lines, I know a few other leftists that are into fieldsports, some even post on this site! WHAT ? Theres more than one of you ?? Guys, we've been infiltrated !

you have got to have someone playing devils advocate It's a good thing to have your preconceived biases challenged. My view is that if you want to exercise your right to free speech, you must accept the responsibility to listen to those who disagree with you. If you are open about your views - political, religious, social, cultural, whatever - you can, and should, expect to have them questioned.....and you should be able to defend them ! Problems arise when a group of people see any questioning of their belief as a personal attack.....
