  1. mines rusted out, and i looked after it, wd 40 as as anti crossive agent, and brake cleaner to shift the carbon, little taps on a worktop to get the crap out also, As this was the only mod at the time, people purchased it.....now there are plenty of other to choose from, and some are strippable.......
  2. i think JARD triggers do a unit to suit the tikka, check them out or get in touch, it single stage.... as far as i remember...... ; here you go.......... http://www.jardinc.com/index.php/pruducts/triggers.html
  3. Dublin is a bloody rip off all the time mate,And the rest of the country isn't far behind to be honest, poor you with the exchange rate as it is, nice one sounder, of for a wee hol are we..............
  4. Welcome mate. i hope you enjoy the place..............
  5. There are lots of subitle things that change POI, such as temperature, altitude, barometric pressure, wind, wind direction, bullet weight, velocity of bullet, ballistic coefficent, line of sight down the scope, mirage....... list is a long one maybe missed a few but who cares there's enough here to worry about.... More than just point and shoot, this is what makes long range intresting, to get a hit you gotta read into all these things and the varibles involved... heavy reading is right..........
  6. welcome to THL, enjoy the site....
  7. barrel harmonics play a big part in the shift of impact, the weight of the mod however slight will change the point of impact, Also the bullet has futher free air to travel in, over a slightly greater distance, thus increasing velocity slightly, pressure you tighten the mod to will also effect POI [point of impact] barrel harmonics again.......... think of the bullet traveling down the barrel in wave form, rolling up and down and meeting a weight at the end [the mod] check out the computer image of a 6mm ppc shot and amplified 500 times........ http://www.varmintal.com/aeste.h
  8. welcome mate i hope you enjoy the site................
  9. A friend of mine had one for a very short time he though it was pants to be honest, not very accurate, poor mag feed and a barrel burner to boot, he bought it on the back of hearsay from a shooter who goes out with him the odd time, the Wssm was getting quite popular around these parts, but the cost barrel life, was more critical than performance given, so it went, Gun dealers here now can't seem to shift them, very good ballisticly over the standard .243, but at what cost, accuracy, what all the extra speed doing if you can't hit the bloody target....... Short barrel life would be my gr
  10. you need to shop about, mate there is a vast difference in the cost of shooting related things between suppliers, one company i however will never deal with again though istarget sports bolton, i waited ages for a harness for deer draging, and they debited my account right away, i had to wait over six months to get it..... So just a word of warning if ordering stuff over the net.......
  11. mainly hornady or cci hornady are the most accurate in my rifle............
  12. Only go for good quality rods, such as these....... http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/17hmr_rifles.html only 24 pounds and worth every penny, cheap rods damage the rifling in the barrel thus loosing accuracy...... dewey is the only rods i use on my rifles...
  13. you will find that the accuracy goes a little after cleaning, and may take a few shots to settle in sometimes mine takes about 20 after a good clean to settle down, you have to keep any rifle barrel in tip top condition, not cleaning is plain mad, then build up of fouling, dirt will be so bad that that accuracy may never return once a point is passed, so why take that risk? http://www.varmintal.com/17hmr.htm you may find this helpfull...........
  14. Wise words missie...........
  15. give it a good clean now, with a bronze brush to start, to clean the crap out. then hoppes powder solvent, patch out till clean maybe need a lilttle copper remover to and let it soak for a few hour's, patch will come out blue if using a copper remover with ammonia, clean with a dry patch to get rid off all residue, then slight oil to store gun until next time, i find my rifle opens up the groups after a good clean slightly, this is the way i do it.... due to the speed the little pill is doing copper fouling will need to be taken care off, at intervals when you see accuracy droping off,
  16. just lucky i guess matey......cheers for the compliments...... ( i never put my best ones up though!! lol)
