  4. went out today with "joeD" to do a few sets.. the first 3 sets we done produced nothing, & we spent a good while trying to sort my long net out which added to the frustration.. we had our first kill on our 4th set but due to the mark been at the base of a tree made it impossible to dig down, but was still pleased to see the workers with fur on their claws.. onto the 5th set, a 5 holer, entered ted & within 1 minute we heard screams & marked a position, 6 inches, result ! pulled him out with ted on his arse & joe finally had his first despatch.. had a drive round the edg
  5. where did you get the long net from ? looks like theres plenty of bagging..
  6. fair play matty, thats some dig...
  7. That's a strange one Richie, when you're out with it it's reading less than you have to dig, so the dig could be 3ft but it's reading 2.5ft. Yet when you do it above ground and the collars 3ft away it's reading 4ft, which is the opposite. no, its reading more than i have to dig, approxamately a ft or less & the batteries are new.. so ive just noticed that i have to take my reading from the rear end of the unit..
  8. they work fine with the mk3 box, but they do take the 394 batteries, there slightly flatter than the 393 batteries..
  9. ive recently been noticing that the readings ive been getting on my mk3 are slightly more than what i have to dig down to... so i have just tried something out.. i put my collar on the floor with the back facing me as though it was on a ferret, i then pulled a tape measure out to 3ft & held it above the collar.. i scanned the locator above it & held the end tip to the 3ft mark & found it was reading more nearer the 4ft mark on the display, but when i took the reading from the top end of the locator i found it bang-on.. so my point is when its held to the ground & im rea

  14. especially like yesterday when 3 of us were using them..... I'm going to start using it without the sound on now pat, just use the visual display & let the beeps cut in when its closer...
  15. the only two down sides which i see is that its easy to forget to turn them on, well for me anyway, & the collars that come with them are too soft, a bit of a bollock ache the thread them through whilst on the ferret, im changing mine for mk1 leathers...
  16. i know... should have planned it better & took the long net...
  17. managed to take these today whilst out ferreting....
  18. thought id get out this morning to get a few & give my new workers some sport... i didnt bother with the longnets today, just used the purse nets.. got to the patch that has 2 main warrens.. anyway, collared my ferrets up, 2 with the mk3m & the other with the original mk3. i started with the smaller warren & put the two down with the new collars, these were the two smaller of the 3, i just wanted to get the rabbits moving first before i brought in reinforcements !. after 10 minutes i got the locator out to see what was happening, couldnt get a mar

  21. some shots from today....
  22. not trying to tell you how to suck eggs, but did you make sure that the collar was under its neck & not to the side as sometimes they can move round, this would give a wrong reading... whilst out today, my hob came up & i noticed that the collar had slipped round to the side...
  23. cheers for today pat, good to meet up with you & jack.. turned out to be a gooden.. pictures to follow shortly...
  24. had to stop on my way down & take this shot... managed to get out this morning for a few hours to do 2 small sets that i haven't touched for a while due to heavy undergrowth... arrived on-site about 8.30 & threw the long-net around the first set, entered my two hobs... only had to wait 5 minuted & i had my first bolter, he hit the net hard but seemed to bounce back off, he turned back round again & hit it again, this time he wasnt so lucky... only had to wait another few minutes to hear a rabbit screaming from
