  1. Its called evolution.......what starts off as a good idea is often replaced with a better one. I think the lurcher is a cracking BREED..................or do you not class the Lurcher as a breed ?......Its either a breed or its a mongrel you cant have it both ways ? evolution yes, brought about by cross breeding....is it not? the lurcher is in no way, shape or form a breed, how on earth can it be when it could be a mix of a dozen or more different dogs?? a lurcher is a crossbreed/mongrel that has sighthound and sheepdog or terrier in it. So tell me.....just out of interest..
  2. Its was a big loft lol and there the only things we had with a long enough cable and they run of one unit so carnt have one without the other lol If a dog trainer could train out dog aggression in a fighting dog that would tell me nothing about the dog trainer but everything about the dog.......what it would tell me is that its a poor representative of its breed and in an ideal world would be culled !....................I could say i could take a champion winning greyhound and teach it to run slowly....does that make me a good dog trainer or the dog a poor greyhound ? Im not sa

  5. its nothing to do with the weight verses ability, its weight verses train- ability. take musket where 1/8th of an ounce is the difference between death and living. having an imprint gives you a better weight safety margin. Why carnt you like mods posts, i asked on an earlier topic got a like from malt but no answer
  6. Not all imprints are like that though, imprinted right there great birds and the noise soon settles when the kills start coming in, i think the main reason for an imprint is there less highly strung so good for spars and goshawks, dont see the need for imprint harris hawks though there good enough parent reared but some people just have preferences
  7. except accipiters who will breed even when imprinted Learn something new everyday
  8. Sorry mate, what's a mal imprint? Just kill it
  9. So parent reared must be the most popular I take it? Yes get a parent reared for you first bird less to go wrong
  10. Your right, Parent reared birds breed with there own kind, less aggresive at sexual maturity (generally) less vocal (generally) Imprints wont breed with their own kind unless theres creche reared with other imprint siblings ( i think ) there calmer and less highly strung, bad manners ( in some cases) can fly at a higher weight. Noiser (in most cases)
  11. Theres a reason they make different product for different animals, the cat products wont be the same as ferret products, there is a reason for that, either stop being tight and buy from the vets, i doubt it will be too expensive anyway, or use the internet
  12. Must be, im fitting loftboards with 2 500w halogens beaming on my head, its hot as hell lol
  13. putting loftboards down in this weather, its terrible

  14. And where did i say anything about removing the trait? There managing it then theres removing it which is impossible, i think youve got me down wrong mate, im not some gullable, deluded animal hugger, I agree as much as you do that there are bad dogs but what i dont agree on with you is that its mainly due to the genes. Owners influence plays a big part in the making of a good dog
  15. Yes mate ive got a staffy and when did i say anything about putting him in any situations? he doesnt get the chance to do anyting but i firmly believe that just because he is a bull breed he will not one day snap and want to fight anything that moves thats what i was getting at in my original post. That is an unbelievably naive comment......do you think your couple of years " hard work " as you put it.....removing the trait........can overide the 100+ years it took to stamp the trait in their in the first place ? Well yes i do, never said anything about removing the trait, but i don
  16. Why use cat products if they make them for ferrets
  17. Well yes i do, never said anything about removing the trait, but i dont think that trait just causes a good dog to snap on its own
  18. thought id ask because any birds out of the moult this early have done really well lol
  19. Don't know where you got your info from mate..Its actually the other way round Sorry mate your in the wrong they are more related to dogs than cats
  20. Good, you going to see some birds flown or just have a meet up?
  21. No disputing they are more dangerous, but to say a dog is aggresive to other dogs because it has a little bull breeding in is pish Why do people use bull in a mix in the first place? When you cross breed any dogs, you risk introducing traits you might not want into the resulting offspring, not just the ones you're after.. I think it's pretty obvious why people use bull blood in lurchers. I know why people use bull in lurchers, but like I said you might get more traits of the breed in a resulting mix than you originally wanted, one of them maybe being a higher likelihood of
  22. Sorry mate but i fail to see that little bit of bull in the dog has caused it to be against other dogs, i think this is where the problem lies with people being against bull breeds, i think its the owners fault there dogs dont like other dogs as if they are brought up and accustomed to dogs from a young age they will be fine, you carnt just blame that little bit of bull gene on his aggression I disagree there, some dogs can be socialised and be sound with dogs then they get to a certain age and bang your once playful bull breed is now full blown dog aggressive and wants to fight everything. No
  23. Never, wonder what just makes them snap like that, i like the look of a praire falcon
  24. We far from struggle with hare numbers, they were thin in some places but bouncing in others. We have thousands of acres to fly on so we don't visit the same place twice in a month or so that way they don't get shy of the bells or anything like that. the 4 yr old male did 114 kills on his own 101 of which were hares. the young female didn't do anything which is common in a young eagle, and the older female had 42 kills 19 of which were hares, she is mainly used for bigger game. ATB martin Thats good news then, do you target deer at all with the eagles?
