  1. Get a lamp lol. Have you no bright torch, distance will only be short so a decent powered torch shouldnt be too bad. Peanut butter is what i use for bait, i always let the first rat i see eating the bait go so the rest of the rats smell the bait on the first rat and search it out, no idea if it helps more but with rats every little helps ha
  2. Received a green dub dub bandset and two spare bands through the post today Thanks to bush wacker Replaced my dankung 5080`s on my keyring catty with them as they were near to breaking anyway. There really nice snappy tubes and go perfectly with my keyring catty that i keep on a carabiner on my ferreting bag Put quite a few shots through them already and there lovely to shoot and plenty of power, probably be best for 10mm lead but still punching the 12mm out with plenty of power. You can see on this next pic the grooves ive put into the catty to take tubes instead of fla
  3. So not too big then, must be the photo lol
  4. Fancy taking me! I wont be any trouble honest
  5. My bad thought you was going this year, is it just a holiday or are you going to get a bit of falconry in lol
  6. @Alcatraz she looks a real hefty bird in your profile pic, whats she fly at?
  7. I did aswell but found it was messing his weight up so stopped doing it people have kept hawks on bow perches for years with no problem, keeping a perch higher will eliminate the problem but then theres problems with tangling, id say 5ft is more than is needed to be honest, id say average perch height is probably 2-3 foot with the tail feathers they will be closer to the ground so maybe 1.5-2.5 feet.
  8. Unfortunately ive not the birds for the job, make sure you take plenty of pics lol, when is it your going to dubai?
  9. Tethering sounds like the easier and safer option all round. I was all for free lofting initially but I will be flying my bird 5-6 times a week in season so it's not like he/she will need the extra exercise of free lofting. I can see the benefit when moulting as being stuck tethered on a perch must be boring as hell but I know a lad who still handles his daily during the moult with no problems. I might go for something like a 10 x 8 shed, take the windows out and swap for bars and tether in there and then in time I could free loft during the moult. If this would be big enough to free l
  10. That's her just this minute! Interesting you put her on a block, one of my mates knows this bloke that made him some jesses that puts all birds on a block. i dont like the look of them though personally, give me a bowperch anytime lol
  11. Cheers fella. Appreciate that. Didn't get a PM mate no. It keeps happening saying theyve been sent and read but get no reply then when i ask if they got it a few times they havent? they must be stuck in the mods"read later box" Sorry i dont follow hahaha. Loads of people think the mods can read PMs. Its a standing joke. They cant though I assure you. Gaz I thought that but didnt want to make out i knew what he meant to be made to look like a prick lol

  15. Ye some with ease, but sometimes a female gets knocked about by a hare and wont chase them again, wheras some just keep going and get expert on them. Pheasants wont be taken by full on tail chases but on the rise and dive into cover when following on yes, a harris following on is a great sight and puts a smile on my face lol
  16. I only fly my harris from following on, i love to see him make his own decisions like which perch to take over a burrow, how close to stay to me me when beating. Wouldnt like to fly from the fist as over the past 2 seasons my bird chooses height over flat out speed so for me to fly him off the fist would be me hindering him
  17. God knows what happened then, something must have gone wrong in the training, even the slightest unnoticeable thing can be the difference in a vocal hawk
  18. i read on the iff some time ago that spending to much time with a harris in the beging of its training can cause it to become vocal towards you you Im a believer in not spending too much times in early training, having a hawk sat there for hours isnt doing much, in my manning i kept my hawk working away at a rabbit spine constantly touching him then other than taking him for walks he got put back, never had a problem
  19. with the right training method this shouldnt happen, harris hawks are very vocal by nature but with the right method this wont happen, i think most of these problems happen with parent reared birds that the breeder has taken out too early to save on cost
  20. Shite mate a parent reared bird wont do that, just make sure the bird has been with the parents an absolute minimum of 16 weeks and you will be fine, If you want to fly a bird of the fist, have a bigger bird for hares and squirrels and like a better looking bird go for a red If you want the bird to follow on and fly in a cast with h other harrises then get a harris
  21. At what point did I say I didn't buy from the vets??! I get my flea products from there, problem is, that they are out of stock a lot of the time so I have to look elsewhere, usually pet shops. Some of the many brands I've used and still use is Advocate, from my vet and is £15 for two spot on pipettes. Can't buy this brand online as you need a prescription. When I found that the small animal spot on made for ferrets and rodents works just as well, I began using that instead as its £££'s cheaper and readily available from several pet shops. P.S. there's a reason they make out that cat and f
  22. its nothing to do with the weight verses ability, its weight verses train- ability. take musket where 1/8th of an ounce is the difference between death and living. having an imprint gives you a better weight safety margin. I think a bird like a musket needs to be an imprint. I love imprints! What imprint method is it you follow?
