  1. Thanks mate i dont expect them for nowt though, if you want anything for them i will gladly pay. There alot different from shooting flats but i really like them, ive been looking through some of your kills on the rebelslingshotforum, your a good shot thats for sure good luck with the move
  2. Ive just brought a catapult to give it a try! Cant wait to get it out and give it a try! There a great piece of kit wouldnt be without mine, had four kills so far 3 pigeon 1 dove, squirrels are next on the list, what catty you bought mate?
  3. No idea about trapping but get a catapult and some ammo. Keep it handy and get a decent shot with it then when the opputunity arrises youve got the chance to make it one less squirrel lol
  4. I have posted in the wanted section but not many people look in the falconry section so : Wanted 173 transmitter, working condition with no knocks or damage. Delivery only unless in my area Pm with any offers cheers
  5. Saw my first wild peregrine last week while out with the air rifle, watched it for a good 5 minutes before it went
  6. Doesnt matter what you want to do with them you still need to know what your doing, which in all honesty mate it seems you havent a clue. Theres not much money in breeding owls as the chicks are inexpensive to buy so i would just leave them to someone who knows what there doing. Go out with a mentor for a season then get a harris or red then you wont get bored of watching an owl fly in a straight line over and over. You will be very disappointed with the hunting capabilities of an owl, its extremely hard to get them going and just not a serious option for any falconer. Sorry to be harsh but th
  7. I suggest getting your mentor to nip round and discuss things like this with you, im sure he will see you better than any of us can. Theres nothing wrong with mesh as long as it is suitable for your hawk
  8. What about having an inside space like you want for tethering during the season then build an extension which is accesible through the window so you can freeloft during the moult, with an open roof Giving your bird the choice to sit out in the weather or come in, i know my bird spends very little time in the shed part, in fact yesterday i bet is the first time in months he has brought himself in for the night due to it being very windy and raining
  9. Mines exaclty the same no matter how cold it is if its raining hes there getting piss wet through lol but he also loves a bath
  10. I thought there would be more space and light in this setup than in a 10 x 8 shed type setup. I do plan to weather the bird out as much as possible from young. Maybe back to the drawing board :-( its just that an inside aviary isnt very common and isnt a done thing, if thats what you want to do then do it, what about in weather like this, is it warm in the garage, or in cold weather does it really drop, i know in my garage the temp plummets to lower than it is outside Currently it's cooler in the garage than outside but that would change if I swapped the window for galvanised bars.

  12. I dont know mate, i think an outside aviary would be better, better lighting, exposure to weather Bowing out everyday might not be an option depending on how laid back the bird is, as you know my bird didnt take too well to it. Size wise fine but still think on outside setup would be best
  13. Got you Got you invest in a scissor clip aswell mate to fasten to your glove.ill show you mine next time your down.i use it for when i have the birds leash tied to the ring on the glove i also fastened the scissor clip to the swivel on the Jesses just as a secondary safety measure as a bird flying off with all its equipment and leash on wont last to long. Ive got one, invaluable when you need the bird in quick, back to glove jesses on scissor clip attatched, quicker than fannying around with leash and falconers knots grovsey off this site told me to get one as a safe

  16. because where the leash sits on the carabiner its right at the bottom and wont budge wheras with that its free to slide up and down the d ring, you have a swivel from the jesses anyway to stop tangling so another swivel isnt needed
  17. I use the lasso knot onto a carabiner, clip it onto the perch ring then falconers knot on top so theres no chance of the knot coming of the clip, then when i pick the bird up to go out i just unclip the carabiner onto the glove d ring and im off So the carabiner stays with the bird at all times? Except when you swap mews jesses to flying jesses of course. Yep makes thing easy

  20. Ha i just had to get it in there, the harris is best lol I say its illegal as long as the vehicle is stationery on the slip its fine, but very dangerous, good way to get close to crows but not worth the risk if you ask me
