  6. Pick some flies up of mackem, I believe he ties his own . If you havent the time then vary your depth and retreve and move to find the fish, when you do try to remember what you were doing when you hooked it. Fish are actively looking for food this time of year, they are on the move and they fight hard, great on a fly rod. And if your casting starts to mess up take a 5-10 minute break and start again, good luck and let us know how you got on. Lee yc

  11. Knowing a bit about trout I'll tell you why the earthy taste, trout or still water trout or even chalk stream trout, stocked that is. The flavor is taken on by the algae in the water that the trout was grown and not by the water that it was caught in, unless it was in there a long time and then the flavor may be lost a bit or increased a bit depending on the water. As I have said before trout pellets are over 90% effective  so maybe the flavor you are tasting is pellet . I have herd from a couple of sources trout poached in apple juice can eliminate some of the earthy taste, smoking is

  15. I wrote a topic some time back that created quite an interest that was about exactly that the keeper forced to shoot the Hares as the div's kept on driving the feilds. The total tally estimated damage with two broken gates, damaged fences and ruined crops came to over £2000 in one evening. Luckly enough the keeper who we know, is so busy he didn't have time to do it and the farmer who is equally as busy eventually forgot it. Needless to say we gaurd our permission as if it were our own wether it be right or wrong. Just one more thing if you do poach don't break anything, leave everything as
