  2. years ago i had a blue whippet that would not only mark with neigh on a 100% record, she was also the only dog that i have ever owned that could crown the ferrets on a kill
  3. welcome to THL mate not everyone will reply to a thread or agree. i learned that the hard way! i wouldnt want everyone to agree but like i seen if it was based on a certain breed more views would be blasted out there very fast! it's a lot to get thou thats all mate
  4. i've seen dogs encouraged to mark too much only to find it false marking when it did. paulus your spot on mate all my dogs mark in there own style. ive been out a few times when one dog will mark a bury and others won't only for the roles to revers on the next hole .
  5. welcome to THL mate not everyone will reply to a thread or agree.
  6. . if you find sport in a day time hare and another at night makes you NO MORE OF A MAN. just forking big head. each to there own i say. good luck with your dog mate i just hope it dosen't get passed about if it's not real enough for you I wouldnt worry about it getting passed about mate. When the benchmark set for breeding is 'Does it f**k off with its quarry' its a fairly easy expectation to live up to ahhh so he was trying to breed something into a dog that can be trained ?

  8. I heard an old friend spinning a few yarns one day while out hunting he was telling tales of how his old bitch had caught 6/6 single handed when she was 16 months old. he was talking shite and i did tell afterwards without an audience. It's funny how 3 can turn to 4 and 4 to five after a few beers or when eye witnesses are else were. i've seen 5 caught in half an hour with two dogs after that night i never ran two dogs on a hare again. I don't think some daytime dogs have the running style for a night time hare and vice verser. A dog has to be quick at it's job and box the hare in
  9. she is thats the forking problem with this country
  10. And when she reads this.... she'll just move it dooooohhhhh ...................... didn't think of that one thou .
  11. with age comes experience with experience comes knowledge with knowledge comes wisdom with wisdom comes understanding with understanding comes respect with respect you have learnt the lesson i'm only as far knowledge still got a long way to go
  12. I Think as you get older the numbers game goes out of the window. you have a level of responsibility to conserve your land or you won't have such a good season next year. I suppose there will always be those that are in it for the numbers but there are still a few out there that understand it's not the way forward. The best hunters are conservationists also.
  13. it sounds like it could be a good piece of kit with a few of you out. i'm not to sure if it would suit me because of the lack of signal in my area and i do take mine hounds out alone sometimes. a piece of kit for the future i'm sure. AND IF MY MRS IS READING THIS I WILL BE CHECKING MY BOOTS FOR SIM CARDS
  14. I will learn to get some pics up on this site by the end of week even if it kills me or the laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. sounds interesting mate. what if you cant get signal on your phone?
  16. If your asking for peoples views not everyone will agree thats just life. as already said it's nothing personal just how i feel on things . It could have been a good thread. I blame that HOT MEAT guy
  17. i enjoyed them thanks . nice to see a bend in the rod your boy looked like he was having a great time.
  18. i'll give the thread 2/10 . you'll have to wait untill i've a few hours spare to get into this one. i will say 7/10 for a bull cross is bolllllocks. as you allready stated a dog is only as good as it's owner in the majority of cases so a dog can do anything a owner teaches it as long as the dog is physically capable. IT CAN BE A 10/10 NO MATTER WHAT BREED. I have seen 27"bull crosses turn course and catch rabbits better than a good collie whippet greyhound. To cut a long story short there is no rule book when it comes to dogs only a guide.
  19. collie/whippet/ greyhound or collie greyhound. i think you'll limit yourself in later life if you get a dog thats too small.
  20. no worries mate. if you need stuck drop me a pm
  21. I'd say a vital part of a pups development is achieved through play with there litter mates . Taking a pup home at five week is too early imho.
  22. nice to see. nice pics too just out of interest what time was the pic taken?
  23. by the sounds of it your after a dual purpose bird i would probally opt for a sussex plenty of eggs and someting to eat at the end of it. don't be fooled into thinking the chicken will be at all tender, roasting wouldn't be the best option maybe a stew would be a better choice. you could even get a few layers and a few birds to eat . for example some warrens /ISA Browns and ross cobs
