  1. With a bit of luck, she's from non working parents bought as a pet for my misses because that's what she wanted but can let a dog go to waste so gonna give her a go plus she is showing small signs and she's like a possesed demon on my slippers lol! See how it goes next year!
  2. Indeed they do! Saw some piks of your dogs northernlite, what do you use yours for how are they on the rabbits? Have they dabbled in anything bigger? Don't have to answer for obvious reasons tho lol
  3. Sounds like I really havnt got much to worry about..sod it aint gonna bother listening to mates and worrying about having a small lurcher. Who needs a 23" power house of a dog when I've got something that fits in the hood of my coat lmao! Cheerz lads.
  4. Wow you can telll she was small!...and you say she was a demon on the rabbits!? I suppose if you put the time effort and enter the dog right and pick your runs it really dosnt matter how tall or small your dog is...it do suprise me when people say italian greyhounds are usless then because there can't be much different in size there either? Or am I being silly? Lol either way still cracking little dog you had there mate.
  5. Does anybody on here run there dogs around branscombe, beer or anywhere relativly close to there?
  6. Just buy a pup, as been said before on this site plenty of times in the past there's plenty of dogs out there and plenty of rubbish..and plus you'll have to find homes for up to possibly 12 pups. Not a dig just my oppinion atb
  7. No don't think so mate its just what I've heard from different peoples views of small typ lurchers and whipets that anything smaller than around 18" wouldn't be much cop on the straight butthen that's where they're turning ability comes into form.
  8. Smashing looking little dog that terryd how tall was she and what make up? Atb
  9. Cheerz lads for her size she really is quite quick was out walking with the family the other day and there was an older couple with a young pair of whippets and she was keeping up with them. She's not for big bags of rabbits anyway, only 2-5 every couple of nights. So next year when she's ready to get going hopfully shell be ok!
  10. Pups 5 1/2 months old now just measured her at 16 inces tts..the sire was about 20 tts and dam was approx 16 tts.. I know this is a small type breed dog but do you think she would maybe reach the sire size of the scale? If she makes at least 18 inches I'd be dead happy but any small would maybe deem her usless on the rabbits lol what do you think guys? Cheerz
  11. Ill keep an eye out around my area mate (hartcliffe)...if hear of anything ill be sure to drop you an email.
  12. quite well considering it was a massive bodge job! The only thing is the only thing we had available to attach to the pipe and put in the holes was a bit of pastic flexy stuff from a henry hoover lol! And we had to keep re taping it on as it kept melting! I've sorted someone to weld it prperly and got a bit of radiator hose from a car for next time now... Anyway end result there were no rats but have gained more permision for ratting and lamping through my efforts so was all good in the end!
  13. The smoker has been temporarily bodged! I used 22mm copper pipe stuck to the male part of the exhaust using arrodite glue and then gaffer taped an old plastic water pipe to the copper.....had it running for 10mins earlier and suprisingly worked quite well. But will see how it plans out on the job tonight! Fingers crossed lol!
  14. My little lurcher will go for things if she sees something moving but wasn't to sure what she would be on rats so maybe I do bring her with me tonight and she goes for them it could be quite a good thing!...glad you got your answer aswell then ashr1
  15. Well I'm going ratting 2night so might take the whippet/beddy pup now her legs better along just to have alook then she can watch the terrier at work. If she has ago then I don't mind. The whole hard mouthed thing isn't to much of an issue with me as for the future any rabbits caught will just become dog and ferret food. But as a 5month old pup she should be ok. thanks for the replys lads
  16. A conversation cam up between me and a mate last night about lurchers ratting. Most of my mates who uses terriers let them on rats from 6month but what age would YOU let your pup lurcher/whippet on rats? Genuine question and I've got a terrier for rat work not gonna use my lurcher but just thought I'd ask? thanks.
  17. Ok I will just see what I can bodge it up with lol
  18. That's the thing tho I don't no anyone with a welder that could do it by 2morrow evening. Anyother quick alternative you may have a idea for doing it? thanks
  19. Hi, I've just been asked to do some ratting by a customer who's house I'm decorating. Its in a barn with obvious signs either rats are there or have been there! Anyway I thought I would give it ago...my mates smoker doesn't work so I thought about using my old petrol strimmer engine as a smoker which brings me to my question as to what's the best way to go about converting it as quick and effectivly As possible which will cost as less as possible! Any ideas people would be a grwat help thanks
  20. Really good day, well organised. Can't wait for next year! Shame about the b*stard kerryblue shaking my terrier! Dogs like that should have a effin muzzle on!
  21. Just got back from the show, good little show and some cracking terriers there especially the little white lakelands.
  22. IMO if you don't no much about what your dog is doing, you shouldn't let it go down just any holes as if you havnt got a clue an your dog goes down a badger set then your likely to get yourself into a lot of trouble and as quarry goes.... Most of the above but defiantly not badger as ts illegal! Looks like you got a lot of reading to do! Not having a dig at you or pet but just some advise
  23. the blue and black whippets are the inlaws pups, 1 year old but unfortunatly dont work...shame really because the black one got very high prey drive. the white bitch bith brindle patch is my old whippet grey x whippet grey, she was a brilliant dog day and night but couldnt give her the time she needed now shes with a friend who works her loads.
  24. i would post some picks of the familys whippets and the x's but photbucket aint working atm for some reason.......:S mally that fawn dog is a beaut! like the mask on him, the bitch is a looker aswell.
  25. Bar sounds good...living just round the corner gives me an advantage of drinking plenty so I don't have to drive. Happy fookin days!
