  1. You need a good bulldog spade, aim for the centre of the back of the head and one quick swipe! Lol only joking mate....there's all sorts you could try but you may just have "one of those dogs" atb with it
  2. ye thats exactly what i was after cheers just wanned to see what sort ov valeu peeps whuld put on the best dog they chuld get ther hands on no probs, I think people do understand the main topic question but I think its more of the point instead of having a thread where all down the screen its one word answers like 200 500 250 Ect... It just makes better reading when people put there oppinions on the whole matter instead of the one word answers. Atb
  3. If its a figure your after, then I supose for the best digging dog I ever saw and I really wanted it straight to the point I would offer to pay 500 notes maximum.
  4. I had a jrt x stolen 2 years ago, and bearing in mind he wasn't a digging dog but would happily enter a earth lol, now as a pup I bought him for 250 and he served me well for a few years bushing and ratting, and I know 250 isn't a lot of money to some people but to me that dog done everthing I asked and wanted of it at the time so I think that was a fair price of a working mans money to pay for (IMO) a good working dog. But then you could get silly about it and say well a 100 percent digging dog/bitch of a decent ageyou could spend up to 500 notes, but just because a dog does everything you as
  5. I have 10 purse nets I purchased from andy kelly not to long ago but as I'm not ferreting for a while now just wondered if anyone would be interested in swapping these nets complete with hard wood pegs for a few rabbit snares? Nets have only been used a handfull of times so are in perfect nick, ill juat give them a wipe over to get the red mud stains from them. If interested feel free to pm me or reply to this topic, thanks liam.
  6. sorry bud I don't, I've just drove past it loads over the years. Next time I drive through in the next couple of days ill get the number of the board for you if that's any help? Atb
  7. nice little pup you have there, I have a 9 week old pat x lakey and she is of similar size to yours so I wouldn't worry about it, it will grow eventualy! Atb with it.
  8. I try and get out on a windy night at around 11ish but due to the fact of people lamping from as soon as it gets dark the later the better! But that just in my area.
  9. Depends what your gonna use her for, if its lamping I'd start taking her out at 12 months slip her on a couple of squatters. If its ferreting get it out young, 5 months upwards just peg her out at 1st and let her watch and after a while it should sort of click atb.
  10. at the moment I havnt got a digging dog, but have a 9 weeks old pat x lakeland who with a bit of luck will be dug to in the future so for now its just out whenever I can with mates or catching a few bunnies with my beddi x whip. Atb
  11. Nice little pup, you'll have fun in the future with that little thing.
  12. A chap I'm doing a job for atm has a patterdale that he keeps around the small holding for rats but on discussing about this topic earlier on to day he said "you can take a digging dog ratting, but you can't take a ratter digging" his oppinion being if you wanted a earth dog but to do a bit of ratting and maybe bushing then get a pat, but if you want a dog for just out n out ratting and bushing then get a plummer......this is of somebody elses oppinion so don't slate me for it lol! Just thought I'd add to the topic.
  13. Welcome, plenty of decent lads on here mate, but also a few keyboard bashers lol. What dogs you digging to? Atb
  14. alright bud, I'm up near bristol airport, and the rabbit numbers are absolutly shocking this year! You have much luck over your way?
  15. I had a vitara estate 1.6 2 years ago and it was absolutly brilliant! Whent anywhere and pissed passed land rovers in the snow going throught the lanes up hills because the light weight also that was with the standard tyres on aswell, quite good on fuel. I'm looking at getting another 4x4 myself and my misses has took a shine to jimneys but I like discoverys....decisions!!
  16. There's a large estate in blagdon, its more of a hotel now but they have a large shoot there so might be worth a try.
  17. Hi I'm in Chipping Sodbury. ah right, your over the other side then lol
  18. Nothing has changed. The stuff is still below ground and if you want it out then you will need a dog who can first of all physically gain access and at the same time have heart and desire to stay there until he is removed. That dog is still known has a terrier or earth dog. fair enough but just because a terrier dosnt go to ground it still dosnt mean it isn't a working terrier. If its got a job to do and does it ok imo its working.
  19. Where abouts in bristol you from mate? There's a handfull of us bristolians on here lol!
  20. So basicly you can still class a bushing terrier as a "working terrier" but as a true test for the dog stick it in the ground if it doesn't stay till dug to the it can still be called a working terrier because it still has a job to do but its just not a earthdog?
  21. In my oppinion it is classed as work if the terrier/dog does what ever is available and put to, wether it be bushing for rabbits, hunting rat or under the turf. Ok so terrier may mean earthdog from old but times has changed and so has dogs attitudes so like said work imo is what is put in front of it, at the end of the day it has a job to do
  22. I havnt been ferreting in a little while now due to work but had a shine with the lamp last week and where last year there was plenty about, in the same places this year its absolutly dier! Saw maybe 6 rabbits at 3 different locations over a distanve of 2 miles or so...ridiculous! Gonna have to start travelling further a field to find some decent pockets of rabbits just to give the dogs a run let alone for the pot!
  23. Can't believe you still have them! By the way the little bitch is doing great! Absolutly terrorises my lurcher lol but they get on well. All the best with the sale bud.
