  1. also if i had pre charged and bipod an all that shizz then i wudnt have to get close and i rekon 55 yds wudnt be a hard shot to make. and when i said there crafty thats because as your moving trying to get close enough thats when they always fly off.. im not always just sat stil waiting for them i like to walk around and look for squirrels aswell, rather than just sitting waiting for pigeons.
  2. ive got a hw97 isnt that in many peoples oppinions one of the best spring rifles ever made? and i want a pre charged again but its just finding enough money for all the divers bottles and all that stuff. im not made of money! lol and so what if i dont want to shoot them further away than 30 yards, thats my personal choice and to be honest how far i feel comfortable shooting a target as small as a pigeons head. maybe after a few more months target shooting and practicing i will be shooting further than that. i havent been shooting properly for about 3 years so im just getting used to it
  3. out of probably 10-15 woodys ive gone for chest shot from the front, only 2 have flown off. and yes i know thats 2-too many, but i always try to get as close as i can with woodpigeons. upto about 30 yds is furthest id try shoot them. if im resting il always go for a headshot but sometimes theres nothing to rest on and i dont feel steady enough going for head then i go for chest/neck area. over the years ive probly had about 100-120 woodys so most of the time i do go for head..
  4. head or chest area straight to the heart or lungs should do the job. hardest part will be getting close enough to the buggers! there Very cheeky and crafty!
  5. hahaha nice one secretagentmole havent kicked off about the lightning. just got my 97kt so cudnt give a monkeys about lightning now haha. going to politely ask the gunshop fella if he wil send it off to bsa for me to get them to sort it, its there problem, not his. not just the lack of power either had quite a few problems with it. anyway even when i get it back il never use it again haha got a weihrauch now id sell it but i dont fancy losing loads of money in it... and if anything happens to 97 il have a 'spare' , suppose i could even take a mate also and let them use lightn
  6. mate ive got a lightning xl had it 2 months from brand new. its doing 9.7 ft lbs and everything has came loose. i wouldnt recomend it.. if you want a decent light-ish springer go for bsa supersport or a hw99s. should get one second hand with a half decent scope for your 200quid
  7. the hw100 would probably be better but i havent ever used one. i had an air arms s410k .22 few years ago and it was quality. both very good guns so whichever feels best for you to hold would be your best choice pal my 410 with (left handed stock) fitted me like a glove as soon as i looked through the scope it was near enough perfectly still really well balanced well made rifle and i loved it. highly recomended all the best pal
  8. i frikkin hate magpies! lol if there was a rabbit a crow a squirrel a rat and a woody sat next to eachother the magpie would deffo be first one down! haha
  9. hi is that the hawke 1 piece double clamp high match mounts???
  10. very nice mate.. hope the accuracy keeps up for you over longer ranges.. love that stock aswell all the best.
  11. 3 years ago i had aa s410k .22 and with the air arms silencer it hardly made a noise just the ding from the spring in the trigger or whatever that is hammerspring??? godknows lol im no gunsmith haha.. also it will sound louder if there is no pellet being loaded wont it??
  12. ive just done this with my hawke sport hd and my ags tactical elite and the hawke looks a lot more yellow... food for thought! the ags cost more tho and also has a better reticle so im going to put that on my hw97k and the hawke on my bsa lightning xl
  13. just the quality of the gun.. at close range the 97 was just as acccurate. obviously pre charged have all the advantages but i dunno there was just 'something' about the 97 lol. dont get me wrong i loved my 410 but i also loved my s200 with 10 shot mag.. had some cracking long range shots with that! ahh the memories..... lol
  14. i just ordered hw97kt synthetic £355 cant wait for it to come!! had one a few years back and it was the best rifle ive had. even better than the aa s410k in my opinion
  15. in my bsa lightning xl .177 air arms and field target trophy both group roughly the same at about 20 yards. havent tested them further than that pal. killed plenty of squirrels and rabbits with both pellets. quality wise id say the standard of the air arms is slipping tho, had a lot more bent skirts, hardly any in the ftts.. hope this helps
  16. aye but i just wanted a few more oppinions.. i always thought of hawke as a cheap budget type half decent range but online everybody rates them quite highly.. maybe thats just all the ir ones and the expensive models haha ive just got a cheap one but it seems fine.
  17. i have 2 scopes, the hawke sport hd 3-9x40 mil dot and the ags elite tactical 3-9x40 mil dot. i just wanted to know which is the better scope . the ags feels and looks a lot better to be honest...
  18. @davy.. iv'e heard a few stories of new weihrauch springers being underpowered recently, its same with my lightning xl at the min its 2 months old and only doing 10.5 ft lbs with air arms diabolo. but i have been very succesful with it at close range. i stopped going shooting for about 2-3 years so im just getting back into it, although now im a better shot than i was before. iv'e had loads of guns in the past all in .22 s410k... s200... hw99s (x2)... hw97k standard wood not thumbhole,... (x3) bsa supersports and (2) old model bsa lightnings.. so as you can see having had only 2 pre charged r
  19. iv'e got mine in .177 . been out today got a collared dove in the head from about 15 yards an got 2 grey squirrels. 1 of them straight in the ear dropped like a sack of grey shit! nice gun thinking about hw97k synthetic next...
  20. i didnt know you arent allowed to use 'slang'!! haha anyway just been shooting for an hour after work, got 3 squirrels , 2 of them 'perfect' shots straight to the brain at around 25-30 yards , cant fault this rifle at close range.
  21. first gut feeling i had was could the chrono be wrong?? mite get a new batttery for it n see if any diffrence.. then i also might go to gunshop n get them to chrono it [bANNED TEXT] theirs n see [bANNED TEXT] happens could be interesting lol..... but at the end of the day regardless of the numbers the fact is at close- medium range iv killed everything that iv pointed it at. if i wudnt have bought this chrono i wud hav neever doubted it lol.
  22. its just guna b trial an error suppose. i got a full tin of aa, ftt, an sper h got bwt 400 left. so by time iv fired alll those thru it + a tin of bis mags il hav a better sort of idea of groupings an all that.. plus it shud b worn in a bit more an be a bit more consistent after 2000pelets rather than the 400-500 its had so far.
  23. nice one pal, like i said iv had loads of .22s before but this is my first 177 so i dont know much about the pellets yet..
  24. ps. my .22 webley nemesis does 3.5ftlb [bANNED TEXT] air arms 15.9gr an my mates old battered meteor mk 5 was doin 3.0ft lb lol
  25. just guna use h point at close ranges ther nearly pellet on pellet to around 30yds. plus ther guna do bit more damage on impact than the domed. so that wil compensate for the 1.5ftlb diffrence... if i shoot a bit thurther away il go ftt's or airarms to try keep a bit more accuracy, therefore better shot placement..... there the only 3 pellets ive tried so far thru it, mite get some heavier ones to see how they react.--- ??? are ther any 177 over say 10grains? ??? --most of my past experience has been with .22 mainly air arms d field and logan penetrators, this is my first 177 rifle. tha
