  1. The twang has all but disappeared on mine now. Get her apart. Use a suitable allen key to pop out the tabs then lever the insert round and it'll slide out. de grease, polish and re grease, i was generous on the spring, then, don't be shy, put a good few rounds down her. Be aware of the fit of the pellet. A tight one will generate a god awful twang a good fit like aa fields will reduce it considerably. Mines acceptable now, so she may last a while before Dr Tony Wall is called in.
  2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-Scales-0-01g-air-rifle-pellet-weighing-gun-17-22-precision-grain-carat-/350588178925?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item51a0af11ed gone up by £2 since I bought em but cheap anyhoo and do the job nicely.
  3. With the rain dampening all except spirits, I nipped out between cloudbursts to sling some lead. Here's my lil experiment. HW95k .177, AA Fields 8.3 grains, 764.8fps, Kneeling (because of the mud and the most used position when out), 19:45. Pretty appalling shooting quite frankly. Certainly not the rifles fault. Haste and poor light for some of those 'groups'. I did still get two usable readings and a pretty good picture of what could be going on down range. The 'constellations' are me trying to salvage something from the mess. turns out I was pretty close too. Chairgun ha
  4. A fate verse den death my dear mole!
  5. Soooo tempted to bash the overdraft....
  6. Still had £49.95 on the box, so pretty chuffed. Will do the job until the universe manifests that panorama...
  7. £36.99! Was well chuffed. The plain jane 3-9x40 sport hd mildot. Cheaper than uttings! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261072605384?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  8. The 'Weeds Act 1959' and 'The Ragwort Control Act 2003' I believe is the legislation to cite. Got an uncooperative chap near us who grows it in his garden "for the butterflies". When the horse owners partner rang him to ask he remove it due to it contaminating the grazing fields his response was the classic line "not my problem if your horses die". Charming. He now has a polite notice being sent to him notifying of his legal obligations under the above legislation. The relevant authorities informed. He was very short sighted in his response, because he will now find a problem he t
  9. Tah Simon. May need some marked resealable bags. With my junkie scales im gunna look like a proper addict/dealer.
  10. I'm game, Si, fancy making a weekend of it? Just name one.
  11. Funnily enough, I'm not far from davyt63 mate. Pm incoming with particulars. Mawders WILL wet himself, the poor kid is begging for a hero to worship (ive been a crushing disappointment).
  12. Hmm more tests required. My homebrews wouldve conked out before 60 yards.40 according to chairgun.
  13. Ahh there you have it. My response would have been I don't know the best range but either 25-40 or zero plus 10/15 yards as these would map the drop of a .177 past the zenith of the pellets flight.
  14. When i weigh mass produced pellets i tend to find at least 4 variations. This increases as you get down to the cheaper brands. What do you chaps do? Fire off the most common weight first, then work down adjusting as you go?
  15. I'll try it out. I certainly want to keep my rifles tip top in both performance and condition. It is a hobby, but also a tool for a job for me. Cheers!
  16. You would be very surprised Mike, try this: Poor the whole contents of what you deem as the best batch and cleanest pellets you have into a glass see through jug. Ensure that there is warm water in there first then gently mix the pellets with you fingers. Hold the jug up to the light and see the amount of lead dust and crap that is at the bottom of the jug. Finally poor the pellets into a siv and look at what's on the inner edges of your glass jug. It can be surprising mate. All that if not dealt with first, ends up building up over time in your barrel causing inaccurac
  17. Thanks Si, being as simple as I, a simple life is ideal. If I need dosh for upgrades, I work. Simples. Mawders, erm, where do I begin? So much tripe! 97 a shed! It and i outshot you. Buffing boots? Best not comment. The hulk? Well, I thought hogan was best as the babysitter. I always rooted for the undertaker though.
  18. I've owned standard HW95's in the past and SFS tuned HW95s. The standard is still very good out he box with amazing accuracy but as stated can be a bit twangy for some. In comparison to a SFS tuned HW95 a standard HW95 is a sub standard rifle. I do not mean this with any disrespect to Weihrauch's standard rifles as they are awesome in their own right and better than almost every other rifle on the market out the box by maybe 2 or 3 other models. Its just a way of me trying to explain the differences in quality and performance. Quieter with no twangy noises, smoother, easier to
  19. Ahhh fire tv. The only channel you'll ever need.
  20. I'm using charcoal that costs £4 odd a kilo to buy luckily its pretty efficient. I'm a bit concerned/am hopeful I miscalculated somewhere. I'll see what they're like through my new HW95 at some point.
  21. I surely did Elliott. He knows how to pick away at ya.
  22. It was twangy as hell when I got it. Easy to strip down, got her lubed. Less twangy, changed from super mags to aa fields and superdomes and she's acceptable, with a shunt and slight muffled 'dung', but no where near as good as an SFS one. I don't think a v-mach on its own would cure it, I think Tony must really go in depth and do some work I simply don't have the tools for. He'll be getting some money off me soon, as I can tolerate it, but not live with it as it is presently.
  23. Roger that. I got an old 4-12x50 ao nikko mountmaster. It's ok but doesn't do the rifle justice and yes, too high for my liking. Looks bulky and ott. Mawders' 40mm panorama is just the ticket, though i may have to skimp and get a sport hd.
