  3. Good luck! You are in good hands there with Andrew Treadwell. Just remember your shooting principles and do as you are told on the range and you will have given yourself the best chance to pass this test. Also, the aim is to pass, there are no extra points for clover leafs atb Andrew

  6. Nice one Moxy - I am impressed as to how very stable the quad sticks are too I like your stainless steel components - they look robust. I already placed a bit of para cord between the fore and aft sticks to brace them, but a carrying sling sounds like a good idea too. I noticed you have steadying spikes on the base of your sticks there, I too had some 1/4 inch thick, 1 inch protruding spikes on the bottom of my quad set, but when I was out, I found that they gripped the ground and vegetation "too well" and moving them about quickly and without noise became really difficult, secondly they "c

  8. Hi Here are some pictures of my effort at making quad sticks Materials - one seven foot white oak plank Stainless Steel M5 and M4 nuts n bolts Leather (from a pair of old loafers) to quieten the "clack" of the sticks and also to protect the stock of the rifle some para cord some silicone spray (waterproofing) they work a treat - am really glad I made them Andrew

  12. Hi Guys - thanks for the congrats Andrew
  13. Thanks beast, I did. The tests are no joke, if you don't read the manual, and get an affinity with the type of deer, they can be tricky. But having said that, once you have done it you feel great, and realise how much you didn't know beforehand. However, the course I did with Jelen took my confidence to a whole new level and this was the clincher. Especially with memorising the legal Scottish/English&Welsh stuff, the deer ID (what features do you see?) was fantastic, and female drop dates. I also did the Online Learning Centre with Jelen Deer - access came with the course - and that was a
  14. Hi all Just like to share I passed my DSC1 with Jelen Deer ... A top crew and I would recommend them highly. Andrew
  15. Well done for helping that old boy out Rich Good luck with your new ground Andrew
  16. Jelen Deer do an online multiguess system which i used to practice and its real good (also calms the old nerves) and is a bank of questions which probe your knowledge - visit Jelendeer.com to enquire. Although I did my DSC1 with them, they may have the facility to use the Interactive Learning Centre (ILC) separately. Either way I highly recommend it as its up-to-date and you can access it any time you like. Andrew
  17. I did my DSC1 with Jelen Deer 24th last month Stu is right - you must read the whole lot - my advice is to read it in 1 hour sessions, total quiet and (if you can) free from stress. I found that second/third time through I added my own notes like when females drop their young, when males cast antlers, ruts, gestation periods and the sounds they make. Have a table for the open seasons and you will find that its uncanny how many deer share the same dates e.g. females in england and wales nov1-mar31. lastly don't fret too much about the multi choice questions, and try and practice all those yo

  23. Hi all was in Tromsø northern Norway last weekend (courtesy of my generous cousins) and as we were headed back from a delicious meal and evening with some friends, about 3am actually - its light at that time of year at that latitude [320km north of the Arctic circle] we saw some dopey reindeer crossing the road. Everyone in the car scrambled for their cameras - it was like something from Monty Python Here is the best pic; cheers Andrew
