I know I did and truthfully I get mortons point about vets being used perhaps too frequently. But in this particular instance I have to disagree with him and say vets was a no brainer. Think he was thanking it was a just something in the pad as opposed to through the whole foot, but he won't admit that through pride lol. Dog is flat out for the night on his meds cheers

Just type in hik9 raised dog bed into google they will come up atb

Fair enough be a boring world if we all if the same I suppose. But let's be honest you were having a pop lol it's okay though I am a sedate man. in truth if you have removed similar through the entire foot and not had infection without further treatment or precaution then I think you may have been a tad lucky. Especially as the nail or tack is rusty as. Anyway he is a tough little bugger in my eyes even if his owner isn't lol ps my family have always kept working terriers and i have seen plenty of dog injuries over the years, big difference between a terrier and a runner in my eyes especially
-
Ive nothing but admiration because you put the mutts welfare first, well done and i applaud you for that,i wish others had your commitment,YET,removing a tack is something the average working dog owner SHOULD have the aptitude to deal with,or learn to before needless vet visits empty the wallet, again you have the dog at heart, well done, others have the same feelings without the same financial outlay. All my dogs are insured Morton so not an issue. For me a tenner a month is worth it. We will beg to differ on this one as without being on the scene in truth I don't think you can make the call but

Not the best pic but look at the leg front paw. The nail or whatever it was is clean through the foot with the head of nail tight to the pad underneath amazing it didn't bleed to be fair. The lad is fast asleep at my feet as we speak with a daft purple sock on atb

Morton you are going to have to give me a clue here as I am lost. I am more than happy to treat my dogs if required but a rusty old nail straight throw the entire foot is not worth the risk in my eyes. If for nothing more than the antibiotics needed post injury. This wasn't coming out without some serious effort believe me, we have all removed various stuff from a dogs feet myself included it's part and parcel of having a dog never mind a worker, but you got his one wrong mate but thanks for your comments it's out now his is the guilty subject

Took the dogs out earlier for leg stretch locally in the sunshine. Decided to take a new route across a few fields just off the footpath. Wish I hadn't bothered within 5mins lurcher clocked something in the next field which I hadn't spotted and before I could call him in he was gone, got a nice view but he disappeared with into a wooded area swiftly followed by the terrier and mad schnauzer. They ducked in and out of the wooded area a few times and then all went quiet. After a few whistles I began to fear the worst but thankfully few minutes later the young lurcher returned out of the wood ran

If it's a decent size crate would still fit a raised bed in no probs otherwise just vetbed on it's own is good stuff you can get about 3m x 1m roll of it on ebay for about 15 quid. Wouldnt muzzle a dog in a crate personally but each to there own atb

I invested in a raised metal bed from hik9 and although a bit pricey they are decent investment if you have chewy dog. They are lightweight and pack down easy enough if you travel around a lot. Just lay vet bed ontop on the raised bed. A lot cleaner as the vetbed can be machine washed quickly and they love the stuff. Costs a bit initially but had mine a couple of years now and they re good as new. Would have got through god knows now many beds in that time and I don't like dogs lying directly on the floor as they sweat and no matter how often you wash standard beds they don't last atb

A lot of people seen to make judgements on different breeds creating certain traits and there is no doubt in my eyes that their is some truth in certain breed traits, BUT a hell of a lot of people seem to base judgements on one or two dogs or experiences which isn't really fair and also seem to look for these traits sometimes as an excuse if things go ariy. If you take a litter of pups and raise them all the same they won't be identical they have there own traits and nuisances, just got to hope that te one you get clicks with molds into what you want it to be IMO. If it goes wrong then look in

Lovely dog Tyla looks a useful one. That has thrown huge for a 1st x Russell whippet though at that size not the norm that one. If they all ended up like yours I would guess they would be more popular. Did the rest of the litter end up similar size? Atb
-
A terrier x whippet is never going to have the speed to run a rabbit down in the open on a regular basis. But - provided it's not too big - it should have the speed to run one down in cover. As to whether or not it's too big to be useful, I think that'll depend on the size of the parents. You get both big and small whippets just like some terriers are much bigger than others. I guess I'm biased, but having got one I certainly wouldn't want to be without one. Mine's about 15" tts and she flies through all but the thickest cover with no bother at all. And for the sort of ferreting I do, whic

I agree. What I don't like is a dog that gets further and further ahead 'til it's working completely on it's own, often clearing the ground before more experienced dogs arrive. True, often found pups are a bit keen initially but soon learn to work as a team though given a bit of guidance atb
-
You get some good views up there that's for sure tricky bit of ground for the runners though atb

She is sporting lucas terrier one of Mr Plummers projects. Originally Sealyham x Norfolk terrier with some added stuff by Mr Plummer a while back now. Not a hard terrier to be fair but has proven ideal for the mooching around I do, definitely has a decent nose on her atb

I like to see a pup wandering a bit shows a level of confidence in my eyes. Obviously got to get the recall sorted first mind. All dogs that I have seen work well have had a level of independence about them when out without being out of control. Far more caught ahead of you then by your side in my experience, even though I like to think I am stealthy atb

Havent been onto permission of late as the season draws to an end, been an enjoyable one bringing the lurcher pup on and getting the terrier back to full fitness, Hoping next season they will continue to gel and work as a team, just a few pics from local wanders recently atb. all knackered out, how it like them atb

Get a Beddy busher, once you have seen a good un you will never have anything else.Ive had Russels,Beagles,Spaniels and a multitude of Heinz terriers and they all did the task in hand with conviction, some came close, none surpassed.Just get yourself a good brush as well as you will need it to keep its coat clear atb
-
Often walk with the terrier and lurcher and lamp late evening and cant say I haven't had any issues as the terrier regularly disappears into cover only to reappear several minutes later. Achieves the aim of knackering them Out though and have caught some bits and bobs when out. Got to be sensible about where you trudge with them though and helps if the terrier is too ignorant atb

Recent one of the terrier keeping an eye out

Think the answer was in the first post. Yup end up with a dog that is compromised on speed for a decent runner and size for an out and out bushing dog. If you can live with the compromise then I would guess you could have plenty of fun with this x. I have seen a fair few whippet x Beddies struggle daytime on bunnies when the odds are stacks against them. I will always stick to dogs for specific jobs and I am not the most demanding of owners atb

iv been looking for the best part of a year. Iv done lots of searching, end of the day people tell you what u want to hear. Half the time u can only see one parent, and when asking questions people don't answer them straight. Makes you wonder. That's fair enough but a litter will come up if your patient which will offer you far more of a chance than a Hancock. The reason I have mentioned Hancock in my post is because earlier it was mentioned that you were thinking of getting one from there and I thought it sound advice to advise otherwise, our money your choice. Will post a pic of my dog whippe -

Hancock makes money because people have no patience or don't do their homework or a Combination of both. Can't for the life of me see why people are so set on specific xs of this that and the other and set percentages when if you do your homework and find a couple of sound parents doing what you want your pup to do and that are a similar type, then got to be the best. Seperate note but Far more likely you will get a difficult pup from Hancock that will be problems rearing irrelevant or working ability as they aren't well socialised another big no no for me. Their have been plenty of decent loo
