  1. I think there is some confusion here... If we are talking about boars( pigs ) in the UK then I would say that sticking a dog on them wouldn't be a problem. And I don't mean to put the UK boar down, iv never hunted them in the UK. But I know they don't make anywhere near the size as the ones you get throughout mainland Europe.. To be honest I didn't even know there were enough about to regularly hunt them.. Would you be using your dogs if the boars were the size of the one in the above picture GrCh posted? EDIT: And I know you are talking about flushing boar. But I think the initial questio
  2. I like the look of these! Think I might pick one up. They aren't as obvious as carrying around a battery on your shoulder. I'm using a Clulite at the moment. 10 years old and never let me down... Apart from a battery and bulb replacement... But that's expected. The Cluson Clu-Briter is a top bit of kit for £60. Charges up by mains or in car. Good tight white beam. Plenty for rabbits. Easy to hold, no trailing wires or batteries. It's smaller than a small battery drill and alot lighter. I'm taking this out tonight and will take my 1600 Lumen cree torch as back up. Atb. Ga

  4. It's going to look something like this...
  5. You would be crazy to send in a single dog on anything that size! A smaller one like this maybe. But never a full grown monster like that big boy ^ You've not read my previous posts I dont think any dog would stop a full grown wild boar, I wouldn't slip mine on one full stop. I think something with the brains of a collie\cattle dog would do best on one, aslong as it didnt got for a hold. I did read it. I was agreeing with you.

  7. I posted this before but a mate of mine from Spain uploaded this photo after a boar hunt. Pretty average size for the region.
  8. I agree. I was going to say that the boars I have seen in Spain would swallow a wheatenX and probably a Bullhound. The biggest I saw was literately 5 mins from where I used to live. I was taking the dogs for a walk with the missis. My Lurcher, Pointer and 2 Rottweilers. My pointer went off into the bushes on a scent and I presumed he was on a Hare or Partridge. He was gone for a few moments and then came bolting out with his tail between his legs. I looked at him confused and thought maybe he came across a feral dog or something. All of a sudden out of nowhere the the biggest wild
  9. I know mate but wouldn't you like to! That's why I posted the picture.
  10. I love the way the media hyped that up. It's debatable whether or not this person was being cruel to animals intentionally. I would like to see the video's so I could get my own opinion It seems like he was just young, stupid and uneducated in hunting. No need to start snapping off antlers. Another story that gives hunters a bad name.
  11. Any more than 1 of them on a boar would be too many The Spanish would disagree. They normally send in between 4-6 dogs. Not saying it's right, but it's how the Spanish hunt Boar. But these are the same people that run around a sand pit stabbing a bull.... They're not renowned for pacifism towards animals But there are some good eggs here Oh I know. Are you Spanish yourself? I lived there for over 4 years, took my Lurcher with me straight out of Ireland and expected to at least get one or two hares. Wow was I wrong. Killed one Jack rabbit in the entire 4 years I was t
  12. I must admit, sometimes when I see people sticking pictures up of their dogs, the kill and their full face I think '' what the hell are you doing!! '' It's like sticking a picture on here snorting a line of cocaine or jacking up on heroin and just claiming it's flour or not real. People will still see you as a junkie, nobody is stupid and i'm not sure how far the gun disclaimer will get you in a court of law anyway... Having said that, to each their own. Just keep safe and use your head.

  14. Best of luck in finding them. Like others said, get some pics up if you can. Best answer to give when someone asks if dogs are for sale... '' Maybe, after she recovers from her broken hip''
  15. What, it jacked and was shit?............................................. Not exactly. She was incredibly smart. So smart I could of entered her into a talent contest, any command I gave her she wouldn't hesitate to do. Everything I told her to do she did it without fail. I could even make her dance... Not that it helped with the hunting She was also 100% at doing her proper job... Had her when I lived in Ireland. Lots of people offered me stupid money for her. Never would of sold her though.
  16. See, the Dam to my bitch had a lot of Collie in her. So I was hoping ( In Theory ) to get the brain of a collie, Speed of a GH and stamina of Saluki. Obviously it doesn't work out exactly like that. My Bitch definitely has the brain of a Saluki, not that it's necessarily a bad thing... But I do wonder how she would of been without the Collie now. Obviously that is an impossible thing to speculate, but I do wonder. The last GH Collie Saluki I owned had the collie brain.
  17. Every Saluki X GH X collie I have seen were cracking dogs. Great allrounders. But it's down to the breeding and the handler at the end of the day. The bitch I have at the moment is a Saluki Collie Greyhound, Took me 5 months of searching to find the specific cross I was after.., still young but I'm confident she will make a good'n. My last one was a real good all rounder. Are you thinking of getting one?
  18. Yeah I read about that the other day. Disgusting. That text is hard to read though mate.
  19. I think in the next 5 years we will see Hare coursing banned in Ireland too. They must be receiving a lot of pressure to follow... I don't know about that ... As in northern Ireland they took the Irish hare off the tpo which allows us to hunt them with a dog again ... Also we have politicians who are pro hunt and try for change over here , Is open coursing legal in Ireland, or is it all park coursing? Don't know as I'm not from Ireland But in NI coursing events are banned but we are legally allowed to catch hares with lurchers as long as it's not an organised event T
  20. I think in the next 5 years we will see Hare coursing banned in Ireland too. They must be receiving a lot of pressure to follow... As for Spain. I think Hare coursing will be alive there for quite sometime. It's just a shame it's so dam hot and full of mountains!
  21. Although I agree 100% in what you are saying. I think the biggest issue is that we are outnumbered 100-1. Unfortunately we are the minority. The anti's have the media onside. We don't... which makes it a loosing battle.
  22. Absolutely.. As I said, all i'm interested in is the bunnies. I have to respect the law even if I don't agree with it. The dog is a family pet and I wouldn't want to risk losing her because she chased an oversized bunny. But it's articles like this that are making the public think that everyone with a Lurcher is an illegal Hare courser, much like Skycat said. That's it. It's catch 22. You can't win.
